I was in middle school when I started listening to KATG, but fast forward to 10 years later and I am now about to graduate with my Master's degree in Psychiatric Social Work. I have worked in a few psych hospitals and have worked with many people with Bi-polar Disorder. Chemda sounds like she would make a great social worker! This episode was awesome because I got to hear from people with similar experiences to the clients that I work with, except with Chemda, they were much more relaxed and open than they would be in a stuffy clinical setting.

It was also great to hear from Ted and get his perspective, and another indicator of Chemda's great instincts.

My very first KATG episode was about 5 years ago and it was a JFOD episode. What. An. Introduction. It was insane. No pun. I was so sucked in by his mania in Ireland and hooked on KATG ever since then. I love WMN and this was a great episode. Chemda is such a wonderful interviewer and elicits great and thoughtful responses from her guests. People with bi-polar disorder used really scare me. I knew a few and they were always flying off the handle and doing batshit crazy things. Hearing bipolar people discuss their issues and what's going on in their head is really helpful to for me. The breaking down their thought processes takes some of the mystery out of it for me.

Now only if I could take a physics class so I understand how those germ tubes soar through the air at 35,000 feet...

You know, there are people I personally acquainted with has the stigma against bipolar disorder. It upsets me and makes me uncomfortable opening topics about mental hygiene.
