Judging by the source I'm gonna say Danny's obsession with death is closer to crazy than being old soul. I think it's just part of Danny's anxiety to over think bad things happening and how it could hurt him.

I don't really understand the whole thing with people caring about people remembering them after death. That need to be remembered, not just by friends, but by history isn't a *bad* thing, it leads scientists to create new things and for great art to be made. But..I just couldn't care less. I just wanna play my Japanese RPGs and listen to podcasts forever

It leads scientists to create new things, but who cares...

some of those new things are robots so it's not always a good thing. It can also drive them mad or into depression when they feel they aren't reaching their lvl of notoriety

I always felt like it was a package deal. Whatever agent got them Gilbert made them take the other guy so that the podcast they do could get double the exposure
