80: Dog-Ear-Dog World

Hi guys! Welcome back to an episode of the Chemda and Danny vs. Keith Show! This week we’ve got all the arguments and awkwardness that you’ve come to know and love from our little show. Listen in for what might very well be the dumbest argument of all time, taken to a quite literally fucking ridiculous level. Just remember, kiddos, your Uncle Danny is always right! Also this week, we’ve got a monologue, a pumpin’ song by Future of the Left, and a conspicuous absence from our friend Dr. Megaphone! A surefire recipe for success! Thanks for making my dreams come true by enjoying this!!!

Keith, how do you not have anxiety and high blood pressure from worrying and arguing so adamantly about bookmarks?

oof. so. i am hard on a book. but, for my own posterity. i don't read books a great deal and never for leisure. every item in my small collection is an idea i felt worth exploring or a memory kept close to my skin; few fiction, mostly reference and collections of essays. a good many are dog-eared and several heavily littered with notes in the margin. they are my journals; triggers for stuff i keep deeply tucked away. the broken spines are mostly from reading in trees; safety, though.

if one of my books ends up in the hands of progeny, it's because i want someone to know me. i want to leave tangible first hand sources of our time; an echo of the past. of myself. the stuff i do for the public isn't the only legacy i want to leave. these things are more intimate; personal. real.

i will say, my signed first edition of The Great American Novel is kept in fine condition.

I don't worry about it, Goofy. I don't worry about someone that shits on their TV set either.

And with Danny shows lately I'm not even arguing the point. It ends up I'm arguing that they won't admit that they're being ridiculous with how right they are. My opinions just seem sooooo crazy that I must be making them up with these two.

Look, it must be nice not to think that things should be taken care of. We won't know who agrees with me cause Danny didn't have the balls to put a poll up. Just don't let their crying, baby-like behavior confuse who's right.

Chemda was taught not to face the soles of her feet to people, not to take the understood offered snacks in someone's house without being personally offered... but somehow books were always a free-for-all?

Wha ya gonna do...

If it's your book that you own, it is a free-for-all. If it's a book somebody lent you, you take care of it. You goober.

I hope Hugsy doesn't bother people when she's around guests. You do check with each person before you let her hang out with them, right?
