Beta test the Android app
The app is in pretty good shape but there are a few little bugs we need to squash before releasing. There's a public download available for it but you have to follow some instructions on installing the app because it's not in the Play store yet.

Issues and Questions
Two bugs with the app.
1. I have push notification turned on, but didn't receive a notification in the hour leading up to today's live show. 2. The Live Show tab counted down to the live show start time. The last I saw was 4 minutes, and then I got tied up with work stuff. I came back to the app 20 minutes later (~15 minutes into the show) and the Live Show page shows next live show in 0 0 0 0. I expected to be able to join the current live show in progress. I checked the Shows tab to see if I could join there, but it's not there yet, presumably because it's still being recorded. Lastly, a suggestion. I logged into the app with my forum creds. When I follow the Comment link from a past show, it takes me to a web view of the forum for that show. But it doesn't log me in. Any chance of passing my creds to that page so I can immediately participate, rather than needing to log in? |

For the last several hours the Shows page never refreshes. All I see are spinning circles for each of the shows listed.

The Shows button eventually updated overnight. So the problem mentioned above doesn't repro this morning.
Now I can't download the current show to the phone. I've tried on WiFi and on cell data, "Download only on Wifi" switch turned on and off. No combination gets content to download. I am able to stream the episode. Also, the Pause button doesn't do anything. I expect it to switch from Pause to Resume/Continue, but it doesn't change when I click it. (Maybe it would if the download were working, so this might be a non-issue.) Changing the Playback Rate has no effect on actual playback rate. |

Episode downloads and playback are working.
Playback Rates still don't work. Tested on a Galaxy Tab S2 and LG G4 phone. |

Fixes the playback speed issue! Good job! One thing I notice, which would only show up during a holiday. For the last week and a half, there have been free VIP shows in the main feed. The app doesn't show those. And if you go to the specific VIP feed, you can't download the show which is free in the main feed. (Danny's 12.22 show, for instance.) |

Because of those bumpers, it wouldn't make sense to make the VIP episode free because the bumper changes the content. The app has the shows segmented and each of them follow a numbering system. Live Show bug. When there is a live show going on, go to the Live show tab. Click Stream Audio. Audio streams beautifully. Click Watch Video. That takes you to a small video player where you can watch the live feed. Click Close in the Video Player. That takes you back to the Live show tab. Now the top entry in the list is "Stream Audio >". But nothing is playing. If you click Stream Audio, it changes to a square instead of the Play symbol after the "Stream Audio" text. Regardless of how many times you press "Stream Audio", it never plays again until you kill the app and start fresh. |

Live Show Video bug. While there is a live show going on, click on the Live show tab. Click Watch Video. That takes you to the streaming video page. Click Start to start the video. Click the Back button on your phone to go back to the main Live show page. At this point you have Live video streaming to the phone, but there's no way to get back to it to watch it. The back arrow took you back to the Live show tab on the KATG app. If you press Watch Video, it launches a second instance of the video playback. If you press play, you can hear them both streaming slightly out of sync. If you bring up the list of running apps, you see the KATG app, but not a separate app for the video stream. The only way to fix this is to kill the app and start over. |

I'm not sure what's causing the live audio stream bug. There might be a problem with how we're stopping the stream but I haven't found it yet. I'll keep looking into it.

I submitted the app to the Play store. I'm waiting on their approval now. We're trying to resolve an issue with the content rating, so it'll take a few days.

Google Play issue:
When I went to get the app by searching for "keith and the girl", the version that shows up first in results is version 1.0-beta-2.2 (Oct 27, 2014 update). I didn't notice this at first and wondered why I couldn't tell it my VIP ID. Version 2017.1.17 doesn't even appear on the list until a little farther down, so I didn't know there were two versions until I poked around a bit. Obviously this isn't a problem if smart people use a direct link. But if you need to troubleshoot, be aware that people may have grabbed the beta by mistake. |
I just searched for KATG and Version 2017.1.17 shows up 2nd in a list of 3. The old 2014 app is still first in the list. How do you get old apps removed? Does the original author need to do that?
