Are people MAKING us feel, or are we always responding to our own triggers. Listen in and let us know how YOU feel about us and this episode.

This made me think about artists and how they set out with a goal of making people feel certain things.

Re: The Ram Dass thing about the boat (you're in a boat -> you get hit by another boat -> you're mad at whoever is driving the other boat -> turns out there's nobody in the other boat -> who were you mad at?) - I'm mad at whoever didn't tie their effing boat up properly and let it drifted out into the effing harbour!

It made me think about people who "choose" to get "offended" by the words of other people.

Sticks and stones they say. Sticks and stones.

Yeah that’s so interesting how far that line can go.

What if that person fell off the boat and died and that’s why their boat drifted. Still mad at that person?

Sure, and it gets into privilege. In days of yonder I'd be all, "Dude, why would you choose to gift that person such power over you that you allow their mere words to wound your spirit?"

But as much as I've suffered all the usual human slings and arrows and heartbreaks and as much as I carry my share of scars I also tick nearly every privilege box and have generally lived a life in much, much less vulnerable states than the average person, both in my country and on the planet in general. Even though as a working class kid I'm a life-long lefty, it took some time to recognize the extent to which it's been far easier for me to make the choice over who I gift the power to affect me than it has been for the vast majority of the people I've shared this society and this world with.

Hearing from KATG and their vast array of guests over the years has definitely played some part in that education. TBGWT (as much as you understandably refuse the mantle of "Educator of Whites") has too.

So I have two boats now? All of a sudden I'm feeling quite forgiving.
