30: Paul Hooper's First Time
Road Dog Paul Hooper is this episode’s guest. After visiting 10 countries and 42 U.S. states, Paul talks about life as a comedian on the road for over 2 decades. We chat about how audiences differ from place to place, the changes in how comedians have been treated over the years, and the appeal of living out of a suitcase. Find out, from this 2-time high school drop-out, if the classroom is actually important, and learn why classic books are dumb.

The bell jar is a great fucking book. Are you saying this past summer wasn't queer and sultry?

Loved this one, Paul is always so fuckin' funny and fascinating to me.

I love honesty and the right amount of frustration. Paul is dead on. And he killed himself last tuesday.
Just kidding I assume. |
The thing about his art teacher taking the class out to draw nature in the fall and him selecting an evergreen to paint, and then getting pissed off about getting yelled at for missing the point of the exercise sums up a huge part of his appeal for me.
He seemed to laugh more than usual in this episode too, which was nice to hear. |
