This is my fourth, almost all live, exposure to him in as many weeks (I was fortunate to be at the Cornelia street cafe gig) & I still can't get enough of him. His stuff is addicting and fascinating and just goddamn funny. I'm addicted to his humor the way he's addicted to his nicotine lozenges

It was a great show - I went over to the breakroom live site and was blown away at all the good stuff in there.

His 2 part interview with Lewis Black is a fantastic treat for comedy buffs.

It definitely was. Yeah the last episode was somewhat sad to see though I enjoyed the "trailer" for the socialist invasion or whatever it was called. His shows were the only thing that I really looked forward to at Air America (well Rachel maddow was fun sometimes but Morning Sedition was a
show that I always looked forward to).

I hope he finally just gets a Libsyn account and just does his thing with noone but himself with the power to pull the plug on it.

I loved this show. I had to re-wind several times so I could really get all of what Marc was saying. I wish he'll become a regular guest. I didn't always agree with him, but he was so articulate and interesting. Especially when he was talking about comedy, that was the best. It did take me almost all morning to get through the show because I had to keep stopping to work or I wouldn't have gotten anything done.

I had a friend in middle school who turned into a neo-nazi in high school, and I remember once he said something negative in passing about Mexicans, and I reminded him that I'm a Mexican. He told me "you're not a Mexican. Mexicans are dirty." I kept telling him, no, I am a Mexican, you've met my dad-it's obvious, I'm quite Mexican etc., and he said something like "no, you're not, don't think that way about yourself" as if I'd said "I'm shitty, there;s no use, I'll always be shitty." It was so odd. The solid fact of reality didn't matter when it jarred with his own racism.

P.S.

I'm listening to Marc's interview with Lewis Black, and at the end of Part 1, Lewis talks about the time that the dickbag producer at the Daily show cut his valentines day joke, said he wasn't funny, pretty much ending Black's time as a writer for the show. And Marc is like, how do you not get fired over that kind of shit? You'll have to see it, but Lewis said something along the lines of "I needed it too much."

I think that's such a poignant description of basic human motivation at the workplace. Like, at a certain point everybody either learns to behave, or sells their soul because they just couldn't keep sleeping and cooking in the same room, because you don't want a room mate again, or a 2nd job, or you need your dental insurance or whatever.

Do you think that the (perceived) failing of Joe Rogan in this situation is that he did it too soon, and the (perceived) success of Lewis Black is that he waited so long to make this compromise?

And I'm not saying it's a bad compromise to make. Some of us (I count myself among this number) are simply too delusionally idealistic to function in the real world without it.
