Patrice, i give you Marlon Brando, that was a silly inclusion. But a lot of the gay rumours surrounding actors starts with or is flamed by (no pun intended) the fact that they play a gay role.
I just think acting is acting - just because Morgan Freeman plays God doesn't mean he is. There is absolutely no basis to reason that because someone plays a gay character it means they have to be gay. Also, i still don't understand the logic - if an actor is 'secretly' homosexual and trying to hide it - why would he choose to be in a movie where he plays a gay man, and obviously knows the rumours are going to fly? Wouldn't that be the opposite of what they would do? And do people who think the same as Keith on this issue, think the same thing about female actors? probably not. And Marina, i think the scene in the Jackal will not answer your prayeres. He seduces a guy in a gay bar, there is a kiss, and so Bruce kills him later to make sure you know he's still a man. |

Anyway, I agree with you as to the whole 'why would a closeted actor play a gay role etc. etc.' except that some of those guys played gay early on in their career when they didn't have agents and managers in their ear telling them that they'd loose it all if any of their overweight, middle aged, fly-over state housewife fans found out they liked an occasional dick (just look at Clay Aiken). Also, there is some ancillary evidence with some dudes, Will Smith in particular. Like, he's not much of a scientologist, and yet he refuses to turn his back on the church- anything he could have done crime or violence wise that they might be blackmailing him with would be tolerated by his fan base, or at least be able to have the spin of 'wreckless youth' put on it if it were released at this late date, therefore it's gotta be gay shit. That, or since everybody knows Jada likes a bit of the poon, they all just think that her gay rubbed off on him when the truth is that the man just appreciates watching his hot wife fuck chicks, and maybe he's protecting her from the church. The pinkett-smith family is basically a kid friendly brand at this point, if either one of them turned out to be gay, it would loose them collectively a lot of money. Same for Eddie Murphy and Tyler Perry. Except they come from a different generation, where they probably wouldn't tell anyway.
