So I been waiting for close to a year to finally make a post on the forums and seeing as I am planning coming alone for April 15th I figure now is better than never so fuuuuuuuck meeee!
The South Park episode in question about Mormons you can see here (this is only the parts from the episode explaining the faith): MilkandCookies - South Park vs Mormonism I have known a few Mormons in my time and they were generally crappy people and had many issues, though they were born into it so I think its a little different and make me a little bias. Really most religions are crazy, its mainly that we know most main stream one since we were younger so they seem less crazy. To each there own, but I do have to say hate the one who decide to wake me up because they want to preach to me at my own home.. |

Any organized group of people who require their members to attempt to convert others leaves me cold. Not only is narcissistic self-importance a requirement for evangelizing ("zomg I'm so smart, I know what you need!"), but most conversion efforts don't exactly work out great in a historical perspective. European missionaries were arguably a more culturally destructive force in the Americas than the Conquistadors. Asian sub-continental missionaries increased starvation and disease proliferation by increasing populations with their anti-birth control preachings. And innumerable wars have begun on the basis of religious intolerance born of the basic construct "I'm right, you're wrong. My god is real and yours is crazy."
Of course, without religious beliefs I wouldn't be able to laugh at magic underwear, magic walls that only certain people can pray at, magic wine that isn't really wine, magic words that are magic, magic sculptures that bleed, magic toast, magic rivers, magic deserts, or magic dudes that try to make you do selfish things (as if I need some magic dude to convince me to be selfish). In the end, no I don't care if a comedian that's making me laugh is Mormon, Hindu or Zoroastrian. I only care if the comedian is making me laugh. But just try to slip in some "join us" joke in your set buddy... just try.

yes they have their faults. But as far as stripping away minority rights, they taught the same as other religions, just for a bit longer. The video was false in what they taught about black people. They used to teach that being black was the mark of cain, as did many other religions, it was one of the things used to support slavery, mormonism just taught it a few years after everyone else stopped. But they have now stopped. religions change, yes they have faults, but there are no many things to make fun of them for, so lets not make fun of the false things
