Yeah, if I wanted to know more, I would have at least asked him what the "real name" for those things are and ask them to explain what those mean.

I remember seeing that a while back--it does make me think of it as the predecessor to South Park's Scientology episode. That really just needs a "THIS IS WHAT MORMONS ACTUALLY BELIEVE" supertext at the bottom and it would fit.

As for whether it turns me off on the guest...nah. There's wierd facets of the religion, definitely, but so does pretty much every other religion in the whole world. The guy's pretty funny and I wouldn't mind seeing him come back on again--if he wants to.

I saw Ryan warm up for John Heffron at the Gotham Comedy club in nyc. He was hilarious.

anyone who says they 'wouldn't go see him because of his religion' is very close-minded and hasn't seen how funny he is. The guy doesn't even talk about his religion. keith just likes to stir things up a bit for the show.

good show as always.

It's not even religions that are crazy. Ask anyone to dig deep into how they view the world, eternity, the true nature and purpose of man, is there anything before or after life on earth, what happens when you die, why do you view life as you do, etc...and eventually they're going to sound like a psychopath.

We often make decisions in our lives or build our views on society and the world and life based on very little actual logical thought.

Whoa. You just blew my mind, buddy! I took a second to think, and it's totally true. I'm a bit of a new age weirdo when it comes to how I view things...I didn't grow up with religion at all, I never had anything force fed to me, but I know it's a bit out there and might not make sense, I might not be able to really explain it when pressed, but in my head I just feel it's right.

That might be why I tend to preface things with "I know I'm insane, but..."

I was off today so I saved the show for my commute tomorrow...I'm super excited to hear it now!!

I had an old lady Jehovah Witness come to the door a couple of weeks ago and normally I'd just close the door as I said "No thanks." But this conniving bitch brought a little girl to stand with her as to prevent rude interactions. What a cooont. I took the pamphlet that simply said, "Family" on the front - no churchy stuff to be seen. Until you open the book and there's another book with all the bible preaching stuff in it.

They're trying to trick us into it. "Ah, you got me with with the ol' bible in the other book trick. Ok, I'll convert."

Jagooo

Great show - props to Ryan for being so honest and not letting the questions get to him too much.

I seem to remember something about Magical Underwear in Mahers' "Religulous" - made no sense at the time but thanks to KATG I now get it. And there is also a WTF moment when Tal Bachman ( Son of Randy from BTO) shows up as an ex-Mormon. Great film BTW.

I've met many Mormons in my life. They never pushed their religion on me.

Born-agains on the other hand, holy shit! Leave me alone!!!

Depends on what flavor you get, some born agains are laid back and if you show that you have no inkling of converting they will leave you alone (somewhat). Mormons are pretty sharp but can also be uppity too. So it all depends on the person you get. Also one thing; mormons from more diverse (eg NYC and other metro areas etc....) areas are more accepting of other people and their choices but born agains are the same all round
