I don't think it has anything to do with generations, because if you go back to the 80s or 90s, it's the comics who are all saying "So I was reading the newspaper..."

I think comics have a far bigger influence on language usage than anyone realizes.
Yeah, you're dead right, a lot of comics do use it. And it makes sense with the kind of submissive, softening context of it that it'd be very tempting for comics to use it as one way to try to disarm their audience, because standing up there trying to win people over can be pretty damn scary. I'd guess you'd never hear the more confident comics use it though, or at least the more aggresive alpha types like George Carlin. They don't tend to need or like softeners, they want to make an impact.

As for how influential they are you might be onto something there. They seem like the bottom rung of the influence ladder compared to actors, musos and sports stars but they've never been more exposed and available than they are now with Youtube. It's a chicken and egg type thing as to where it came from though, I have no idea where it started, I just know it seems like I've only been hearing it for the last few years.

I voted No, but it's more of a "No, I'm a big pussy and can't stand up for myself"

Or Doug Stanhope:

"I was gonna talk about child porn, but i dont have a segue. So let's jump right into it shall we?"

Or Bill Hicks:

"Why don't we lighten things up talking about abortion. Let's talk about mass killing of unborn children and see if we can work a few chuckles into the room"

Sigh.

I expect the next version of the iphone app will have an alarm clock with the Good Morning song...and an optional snooze button.

Fun to have Myka back, (and Myq of course) but it's been longer since we had her on the show & she's awesome (so are you Myq)...wow this is awkward. I love you both okay!?!

The last 2 plane trips I've been on I've somehow ended up in the exit row. Let me say, if anyone doesn't need extra legroom it's me - I'm a midget, (a pirate midget at Halloween). The last time it happened there was a tall guy behind me who was squished so I gave him my seat. I told him to pay it forward, just like the movie .

P.S. I'm totally singing the morning song to Ray next week. I'll report back his reaction, it'll be funny regardless.

Thanks! I don't even remember what this is a response to from the show (was I high?), but sounds good to me.

You're the best (unless you're being sarcastic, in which case you're the best at being sarcastic).

Thanks!
And I don't think you need that "but." Or the "in a good way."
How could an undead child molester bursting into flames be anything BUT good (and a perfect analogy for a humorous conversation)?

PS That might not be a rhetorical question. I'd love to hear ideas for more perfect analogies for humorous conversations, but the bar is set high...

Much appreciated, as always.
You're a constructive laughing machine, like a psycho version of a great fan.

It was great to be back (not as great as it was for Myka to be back, but only because she had a longer time between being back and not being back, so it would have been better for me to be back if I was the one who was not back for longer, so thank you, but not as much as Myka thanks you, I imagine, because something)...

Thanks everyone!

It seems to me that even a robot might need something to take the edge off living with Myka. Seems like a lovely woman, don't get me wrong. Just INTENSE at times.

Why is it everyone is so sensitive to telling a fat person to move their ass off their lap on an plane? The votes are 50/50 almost and I just can't understand it. In most cases these people are fat because its their own fault. It's no a thyroid condition its too many freaking Mc Donalds burgers. The thing that gets me with this guy that Keith and Chemda mentioned on this show is how the fuck don't you get the hint at say half that weight that maybe you need to lose some pounds!

Also I'm not a thin person at all but I know that I need to lose weight myself and already I am working on that before I end up like the fat fuck pictured. I'm only just overweight and already I am concerned about this for my health and also to stop it before it does get out of control.
