I think i was like 15 or 16 when i got mine.
Same deal as the kid - at a party. Id just drank a bottle of JD tho so the details are hazey! i think i spent the remainder of the evening spewing in to a garbage bag. |

Standard Time
Eastern time actually has two time zones, EST stands for Easter Standard Time to describe when we are not in daylight savings time. Daylight savings time represented by EDT for Easter Daylight Time.
It's dumb, I know. |

It's not dumb. There are some parts of the country that don't observe daylight savings time, and the EST and EDT help distinguish that.
While most of the Eastern time zone is observing Eastern Daylight Time, Indiana, for example, is still on Eastern Standard Time. Not that I think Daylight Savings makes a lot of sense these days - I'd personally like to see it done away with alltogether, but the EDT and EST (as well as PST, PDT, etc.) distinctions are important while we have it. |
