I think that the way Cameron handled the 3d is a plus.
Going for the cheap effects of stuff flying in your face would have made the whole thing just another gimmicky thing. Instead he built whole scenes that use the thir dimension to be complete. Just think of the first shots, with the cryogenic chambers in line. if you see it in 2d it's whatever. With the perception of depth everything looks boigger and more massive. If handled correctly (building the shots with depth and using it to make people like there is no screen(, the technology could do wonders. That's a bonus, even if the movie is dumb as a stick. Just imagine a real epic movie, like a once upon a time in the west, where you can look at a landscape and have the feeling that it's really immense. |
