You are all missing the point. The rule is no guns in school. That means no guns in school. If you went or your kids go to a school where toy guns are ok or imaginary guns are ok then fine. But this child went to a school where you can't bring in toy guns. Thus if you do you get in trouble.
You're right though stopping kids playing with guns is a very slipperly slope eventually they won't be able to play with real guns and then the British will come in and try to house soldiers in our homes!
