As someone who has worked in Child Care for 5 years I am absolutely on Keith's side in the gun thing. If the school had a zero tolerance policy on guns the kid knew it.
When the 3 & 4yr olds I used to look after knew there were no guns at child care & when they got caught even pretending to shoot each other with their hands they would try to lie about it. "No, its a laser" "No its a space gun". There would get told "No, no guns at child care", I would make them hand over their imaginary guns and pretend to throw them in the bin.
I guess someone is going to write an article about how unfair it is of me to take away the children's pretend guns when they were being creative and using their imaginations. How damaging is that to their development!

No, the rule is no guns. That means no guns. It means no toy guns, no real guns, no imaginary guns, no picking up sticks and going bang bang at the other children. No guns full stop.

I am suprised that he got called into the principal's office but that makes me wonder how many times the teacher had told this boy off for the same thing. Maybe this child had done it before?

You are also all forgetting that the child got NO punishment. He "nearly" got suspended. That means the principal could have suspended him but instead decided just to tell him not to bring guns to school.

Where do you draw the line? When I was in elementary school my friends and I would run around the playground playing "Tie Fighter versus X-Wing", and we would "shoot each other" with lasers. Should we have had our parents called and gotten suspended?

The child didn't get suspended. If I was the teacher on duty I would have told you to stop shooting at each other. If you kept doing it over and over and didn't listen maybe I would have sent you to the principal. You aren't allowed to play with guns, lasers, crossbows. No shooting your classmates.

I have no idea how ASCAP works, but I remember reading that the Rolling Stones have to pay a license fee to their old manager Allen Klein play their own music from the 60s because he owns the rights to the 60s songs. (maybe they should have read the fine print of the contract before they signed it)

Good lord. We'll be teaching our children proper gun use, safety, and maintenance pretty well as soon as they leave the womb. Not so strange for a place where Little Johnny Nextdoor's first kill is still front page news.

Nation of Scaredy Cats

Listening to the podcast of the kid who got in trouble for bringing the lego toy gun and i have to say the school over-reacted a bit. It wasn't even a full size toy gun! But the kid's lucky he's not an adult.

With my experience with authority taking it too far it went too far over a stupid comment. One of the catty bitches that i was commuting with in a van went to HR and repeated that i had said, "if they (ref:to another van i didn't like) were on fire, i wouldn't pee on them to put them out!" Because it was 8 months after the virginia tech incident and i happen to be korean they took it as a terrorist threat. They said they people can't tell South Koreans from North Koreans as if they had never heard of fucking Samsung, or Kia, or Hyundai, or never even watched MASH! (that crap-ass piece of a show) They made get a psyche test to cover for legal liablity--and yes they determined i wasn't crazy but i was still put on probation for 2 years and no longer am i allow to commute with other employees for those 2 years.

These people are of the retards. And I couldn't do a damn thing because they "justified" under the rules of conduct even though a normal person who realize it was just a joke.

BTW. I order the new book with Borders.

That's a ridiculous slippery slope. I guess kids shouldn't pretend to do anything that might have a real life analogue.

go to office now! how dare you use your imaganation.

i wonder, if you said the lasers were on stun, you'd be ok. but that is star trek so you'd be fucked on nerd pionts.

as a child i would have eaten that teacher alive. every time they turned around i would've made a finger gun and said "bang, bang". my old man would have laughed and then smacked me for being a wise ass.

Diane O'Debra's voice is super sexy! Turns me on to listen to her. Too cute.

Kyle's stand-up was disappointing after hearing him on the show. He had great one-liners on the previous episode. Oh wells.

Not funny but interesting character.

Also, Kyle'jokes were funny and not that offensive. You guiys have a pussified funny bone.
my favorite is still the guy from last year who's character had down syndrome, honestly the funniest submission I've ever heard
