Juvenile name calling is the standard method of discourse for the topic of illegal immigration. If you do not insult the opponent in the first couple of sentences or do not have a cardboard sign with misspelled words, nobody will think you really care about the topic.

Heaven forbid that people have a conversation about a political topic without resorting to name calling. As for saying that if you don't call the other side names then you don't care about the issue: that's just another way to say "I never read the bill, I haven't done any research on the topic, and I'm out of talking points. Please don't bring up any real evidence."
