Watch The forth kind, then see if paranormal activity sucks as bad as everyone says it is. (they came out at the same time and a lot of people got confused about them, Paranormal Activity was a fucking awesome movie, especially compared to 4th kind.)

Keith:
Why not put water in your ear? It promotes fungal growth. Since you're resolved to use ear candles, I suggest a scientific experiment. Close one end of the ear candle with your finger and burn the other end, just as you would while ear candling. Make a note of the vacuum sensation (which should be felt by your finger if it's strong enough to pull anything) and report it to us. I'm honestly curious because I've never used ear candles and the common criticism is they don't create any meaningful vacuum, so this will be a good way to investigate. Assuming you conduct the above super-scientific experiment, you might as well compare the wax buildup on the walls from the ear candle you used on your ear and the candle you used for the experiment, and see if they're any different. Since candling supposedly draws out earwax, we should expect some noticeable difference in color between the two burnt candles. This is also a criticism of ear candles (that the dark residue is just the candle wax, not ear wax), and I'm curious if it's actually true. btw, I'm betting candling will help. Even if it turns out they don't actually do anything, there's still placebo effect on our side.

re: Dentist -- I've always had very sensitive teeth. The air flow from any drill or other spinning dentist tool hurts. Just the air. So I pretty much get gas for any major work, and at minimum I have to get topical novocaine for even a teeth cleaning, and I get that done every 3 months lately. Last time I had any major periodontal work done, they can't just do novocaine at the back of the jaw, they also have to add extra injections at each tooth root. After 15 minutes, they have to add more if they are still working. My most recent dentist has some sort of magic touch and actually managed to do two cleanings now using that power tool thing, first one to ever do that without novocaine or laughing gas.
re: Ears -- I used to get ear infections every summer as a child, and lots of wax blockage as an adult up through my 30's. Very familiar with ear doctor trips and 'swimmer's ear' solution. I finally just stopped doing any swimming where I went under the water very deep. BUT - haven't had any ear problems with wax for 10-15 years. Solution? Well first you have to get all the wax out, and that will involve one of those irrigation things Doug mentioned. Think about it - it's FUCKING WAX! It's not fluid. If it isn't soft and runny (fluid) how you gonna get it out? Warm water, a little pressure, there ya go. BUT - here's the kicker. Just because you get all the wax out doesn't mean your body will stop making wax. So to keep it from coming back, here is what has worked for me for at least 10-15 years. (maybe 20, I didn't put it in a diary) Q-TIPS Yes, every day you use a q-tip to clean any wax out of your ear. You won't plug anything up, because you never allow it to build up! Forget conventional wisdom, this worked for me. ok I'm done now... |
