So i had an idea about Keith's ear.

I remember a while ago the doctor said it was some sort of a mold growing in his ear. If that is true it should have cleared up using the vinegar water(low pH make an inhospitable environment for mold). unless you are constantly reinfecting yourself by wearing giant headphones that cover your ears for a couple hours a day.

Mold give off spores and when those spores land they will sit there until disturbed and land somewhere they can grow again. So the spores can go from your ear to the headphones and stay there until one day they fall back into your ear. If it happens to be a day where you didn't use any of the vinegar the mold will start to grow again and the cycle repeats itself. This would also explain why the infection can switch ears, if you put the head phones on backward even for a second.

As far as solutions, go back to the vinegar water idea and wipe down your headphones with alcohol(the running kind not the drinking kind). Keep doing both daily until the mold is gone and for a couple weeks after that to ensure all the spores are gone, since they are very robust son of bitches.

The candling is probably not going to work for Keith. I have no idea if these things are bullshit or not, but they only claim to remove wax and from what i understand that is not Keith's problem.

I should mention that I'm a microbiologist so I know a little about molds and bacteria, but i'm also from Minnesota and can't keep my yap shut or my opinion to myself.

Hope this helps

Lack of of a decent ear wax coating to protect the ear is the cause of fungus infection. The more you clean out the the worse it gets. Diluted vinegar is still the best treatment. Hair dryer is perfect for drying out the ear.
Frequent ear infections may be a symptom of diabetes.

saw em both and they were both pretty bad. PA was a slow moving piece of shit. you sat there for, what, and hour 20 mins only to see the terribly unoriginal and totally predictable ending.

nothing fuckin happened in 4th kind that was entertaining, although i did enjoy it more than PA.

The discussion about calling collect and tricking them reminded me of a commercial from way-back-when with Mr. Bob Wehadababyitsaboy:

For those wondering, here's 30 people damaged by ear candling. Might as well call a witch doctor.

What's the harm in ear candling?

A (more accurate) review of The 4th Kind:

The 4th Kind - This movie starts with Milla Jovovich introducing herself and telling you that everything you are about to see totally happened and there’s video evidence and everything. The background looks like a SyFy original movie about some haunted woods and Milla Jovovich has never taken herself so seriously. But pay attention because you might not hear her important message that could have been explained with a line or two of text over your own laughter.

Maybe there wasn’t quite enough “real” footage to actually make a movie out of. Just enough to show it along with the filmed bits, as if to pat themselves on the back for recreating things so amazingly well. Which wouldn’t be admirable even if they hadn’t made the whole thing up to begin with.

And so this already plodding and unsurprising movie is constantly interrupted by a woman who sounds like she had a stroke telling the camera everything we just managed to sit through. Or worse, what we’re about to sit through. As Steven Seagal so eloquently wrote in Hard To Kill “Anticipation of death is worse than death itself.”

But The 4th Kind isn’t as merciful as Steven Seagal. It will never kill you. Because it put itself in a position where it wants you to believe things you’ve seen a million times in a million different things before are finally being exposed, but can’t actually expose anything because these things don’t actually exist. So it can’t ever really end. It can only leave you wondering why you didn’t just watch any Resident Evil movie over again so you could still be in love with crazy Milla Jovovich.

Reason to watch it anyway: Will Patton is pretty grumbly and incomprehensible and seems totally annoyed with all of Milla Jovovich’s antics, which is both in character and easily interpreted as his being annoyed with the whole movie going on around him. So that’s pretty great. And in the beginning, before she gets involved herself, Milla Jovovich is awesomely bored by her patient’s boring stories of boring boring.

This only makes me want to do it more.

Thank you, Jonzard, for your horrible reporting. You are to blame.

Ear candling absolutely works. I've done it a couple times without any problems. Your ear does feel better after and you can see all the shit that it pulls out.

You can get them at any of the hippy health food store for around $10 and they come with very simple instructions.

It does tell you not to do it too often though, so just be aware of that.
