I'm pretty sure scientists have to at least take part in an endeavor that uses the scientific method.

The scientists you read in "according to this scientist..." all have PhDs or are working towards their PhDs.

PS, here's a desktop globe you might enjoy: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/download.html
and a similar iPhone globe: http://itunes.apple.com/app/earthscape/id288154060?mt=8

Like gathering data through polls? The hypothesis is clearly stated on the show, maybe not in Latin, but la di da.

I would say that Keith has the B.S. down. The M.S.? If thousands of shows are not more of the same, I don't know what is. As far as the Piled higher and Deeper, they're still working. Still working.

What? That was hacky? Isn't much of science just standing on the shoulders of giants that came before?

Whether or not "social science" and especially "political science" should be considered science at all is still under debate (by the real scientists: physicists, chemists, biologists, etc). And I probably offended 40% of the people on the forums with this statement, but it's true. "Most social scientists, however, themselves recognize their fields do not constitute 'sciences' in the modern sense of the word, but rather in the classical sense. "

If by "just" you mean coming up with laws of the universe when you don't even have a calculator, than sure, it's "just".

PS, someone out there who owns a college should really give Keith an honorary degree in science.

Patrice is moving away.

This news might be hitting me harder when I found out Keith and Chemda broke up. (Though of course I have come to terms with that.)

By not distinguishing by social and hard sciences, I would suggest your original hypothesis was flawed.

Hate to tell ya, kid, but calculator use is just a time saver. When I went back to school and was 10 or more years older than the young'n's there, they used to freak out when I showed up to tests without a calculator...and then smoked them all.

My hand to Newton, you show up with a calculator for a test during the first Bush's presidency? Confiscated. Second Bush? All good. How much harder had the tests gotten? Let me pause and laugh and think about how America's going to hell.

But yeah, if you want to make the quote more proper it is "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants." I think my paraphrase was pretty spot on. No calculators mentioned. I continue to compile data that you are a cranky bitch, with little concept of nuance. When I publish, I will be sure to cc: you.

First Dina, then Patrice.... Sigh.

Oh well let's look at the bright side of stuff.

Keith if you cant use the Pizza Hut Card (man, what a scam though, not being able to use it in Pizza Hut derivatives), dont give it away! SELL IT! Kyle is poor and probably starving, you have dates to pay for and ears to cure.

Enough with the good ol' american man politeness. Be a scumbag, once in a while!

Funniest part of the show:
Keith: Have you ever been to the end of a rainbow? I've done it twice —
Chemda: ... you ignored it, and now it's going to come back.

It was skipped-over in the show, so I thought it deserved some recognition.

I was about to say it.

Best comedic timing + chemistry in history. Period.
