They should make church abortion clinics!

I see your point and i forgot about the distance.

However the pole shouldve been then, "should a mosque be built blocks away from the world trade center"

Your points B and C are contradictory, go look up the stats for how many muslims are killed by muslim extremists (if im thinking of some other stats and am wrong about this ignore this line)

And as far as part C goes, your basically saying built a mosque to stop terrorism, build mosques everywhere if thats case wtf. Have mosques on every carriage of every train, at every street corner, in your bath tub.

I agree with everyone so far, there shouldn't be any religious building at the world trade center. I thought they were gonna build some kind of monument at the site so we would never forget.

Point B was to remind people that it wasn't only christians and atheists who died that day, it was a bunch of moderate American muslims too. But you're right that it goes against point C. But I do want a mosque in my bath tub.

I commented on this on my Facebook a few weeks ago. I basically said that I think that moderate muslims should have a voice, I don't think this is the best way of going about it.

Despite everyone's seeming outrage over this (including my parents'), I think the mosque should be allowed because we shouldn't label a whole religion as terrorist/extremist. That being said, it may be unwise for muslims to want a mosque there, for fear of radical American backlash.

I think it would be a stupid move if the mosque is purely symbolic, but what do you think if it's actually helpful to the religious community in the neighborhood? I may be missing info, but I put "mosque", "synagogue" and "church" in google maps to see their locations in NYC, look at this:

Churches

Synagogues

Mosques

For reference, here is the location of former WTC so as you can see, having a mosque there would be useful to the muslims around that that area, there isn't one close by. And notice how many churches and synagogues there are compared to mosques, it's not even close.

And to be absolutely clear, they're not fighting to have a mosque put on ground zero, my link to the WTC location is merely to show that there isn't one in that area already.

Does this change anybody's mind?

I'm not comfortable with a mosque next to the site (next to not "on" right?)

but hearing that 75% of Staten Island voted against it makes me afraid to side with stupid on this issue.

fuck it. I don't live in NYC.
