I voted for Myq last night on last comic standing. As I was doing so, I was remembering that the show is pre-recorded. So, do our votes really count? Or was it taped up until last nights episode? Someone help me understand this please. I feel jipped (sp?)

The situation isn't as strait forward as it appears. When Mel's anti-semetic/Sugar tits comments hit the news in 2006 one of the people to criticize him the most was talent agent Ari Emanuel. Ari publicly called on hollywood to professionally shun Gibson. Mel had been represented by the same agent, Ed Limato, basically since the Mad Max days. Through a series of mergers Ari ended up being the CEO of Limato's talent agency, William Morris Endeavor.

It was common knowledge that Gibson only remained with WME because of a mutual personal loyalty between himself and Limato. Limato died last week.

The fact that WME would use Gibsons "n-word" controversy (they dropped him before the tapes came out) as cover to fire him is a bit ironic considering Ari himself settled a suit that alleged, in part, that he declined to send a movie script about the Navy SEALs to Wesley Snipes saying "That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Everyone knows that blacks don’t swim."
