I don't really go outside, and don't have the balls to talk to chicks, let alone whistle at lesbians. Out of ignorant curiosity: how do you spot two lesbians? I don't think I've ever seen two girls and knew they were lesbians. Obviously kissing beyond cheek smooches would be a give-away, and gay pride tshirts, and maybe holding hands. But hetero couples who've been together more than a few weeks don't usually walk around holding hands.

Do you get hit on/whistled at if you're just walking around with a female friend? How do you know the whistling/inappropriate remarks don't just happen because it's two girls with no men around, and guys just see it as a free opportunity to hit on chicks?

I don't really observe people walking around, so I have no idea how a gay couple would walk together vs two same-gender friends. If I see a guy and a girl walking together, I just assume they're a couple (though "assume" is too strong a word, as I've never given it much thought).

The hand on the knee or hip, the way couples sort of lead and corral each other around... I actually rarely see people holding hands, but see this kind of stuff from straight and gay/lesbian couples all of the time. Even a kiss on the cheek between couples can be more telling than a makeout session, it's more intimate. If you saw two couples out and one was making out and the other just exchanged the light kiss, you'd probably know which couple was new and which was older and more intimate emotionally. (I realize that has nothing to do with the question, I'm prone to tangents).

Also I liked that dude's crack hands in the salvia video.

That is really shitty for Chemda and Lauren. I always thought New York was super accepting. I'm fairly open with my gf in Vancouver and we've only ever had one comment from a dumb bitch in a sushi restaurant. It was the typical "...god! I don't want to see that shit!!". Again we weren't making out, just a kiss. People generally ignore us ... maybe it's the Canadian way.

That's terrible though, it makes me feel really sad that you guys are made to feel like shit everyday.

Not sure what Keith was talking about when he read my comment on the air. My argument was that people don't like that Muslims on the other side of the globe can tell them whether or not they can draw mohammed. Keith argued that they don't have that kind of control over us.

But, lots of newspapers refused to show the drawings of Mohammed, even in articles about the drawings and the riots. Yale University Press refused to print the Danish cartoons in the book "The Cartoons that Shook the World" which was written about the Mohammed cartoon controversy (Yale University Press refuses to show Muhammad cartoons in a book about them « Why Evolution Is True). FOX wouldn't allow Family Guy to show Mohammed in one of their episodes. Comedy Central wouldn't allow South Park to show Mohammed, either. They also retroactively pulled the South Park episode (from the website) from the summer of 2001 where Mohammed was part of the Super Best Friends. The guys from South Park also said they received death threats. After all of these news organizations refused to show drawings of Mohammed that "draw mohammed day" was started in 2010.

Quote:
Everybody Draw Mohammed Day was a 2010 protest in support of free speech, specifically in opposition to those who threaten violence against artists who draw representations of the prophet Muhammad. It began as a protest against censorship of an American television show, South Park, "201" by its distributor, Comedy Central, in response to death threats against some of those responsible for the segment. Observance of the day began with a drawing posted on the Internet on April 20, 2010, accompanied by text suggesting that "everybody" create a drawing representing Muhammad, on May 20, 2010, as a protest against efforts to limit freedom of speech.

As much as my personal experience is concerned, it depends on the people.

I knew people who shouted LESBIAN out of cars when they simply saw two girls hugging. It was mostly out of pig-headed, testosterone driven mentality than anything else. Happens when all you know about the different shades of sexuality comes from porn, so you see everything through the eyes of a drunk fratboy.

Then ambiguous sexuality became fashionable, cretin teenager started kissing girls as a goof when they were drunk. So the cheers, whistles and annoying reactions are still there and worse.

I thought that, since italian guys are sleazebags, in other country things could be different. Apparently not.

Hold on tight, Chemda.

I think Chemda needs to realize that we as individuals don't have a right to protection from being offended or made fun of, even if it's for a sensitive or protective reason.

People that choose a lifestyle that isn't "the norm" get harassed.. Chemda needs to learn how to deal with it.

Unfortunately that's the shit, closed minded world we live in.

Edit: Also, I have a iPhone 3GS that I unfortunately updated to iOS 4.0. If a jailbreak isn't made for my phone soon (3GS with new bootrom), I'll be seriously considering buying a new 3GS with 3.1.3 software. I fucking HATE iOS 4.0

Simple question, not starting fights or anything...

When you say that CHemda and Lauren need to "Deal With it" does that mean that they have to accept that people suck and the world is shit and move on or they have to fight back?

Because i think it's fair to say that people acting like assholes are a part of the world, but that doesnt mean that you gotta keep your head low and accept everything.

When you get aggression you give it two times back (Joe Strummer said this, and i agree)
