I mean that them putting in a complaint about a cabbie isn't going to change the world. So I guess I'm saying Option A.

But choosing option A is lethal on the long distance. Either you grow a very thick skin (but that's hard) or you just fight back everytime you feel the need to. If a person is sensitive and gets hurt by those type of acts of violence (because it is violence on some level), lowering their head will just make them feel worse. Option A works if you're hardened already or you just gave up. |

Chemda has the right to be mad.
Hey, Just thought i would chime in and say that i feel Chemda was completely justified in calling the police when being publicly harrassed. No one has the right to treat anyone with that level of disrespect, regardless of gender or sexaul orientation.

A public display of affection is nearly always inappropriate, being gay has little bearing on that.
Our rules on this sort of thing have become more lax in recent decades, we tolerate a lot more now, but there's a cost. At a public pool: Is it appropriate to show any sexuality, straight or gay, at a public pool full of children? Is a public pool supposed to be considered a safer more family friendly atmosphere or not, that's the question. In my opinion, any making out is out of line around kids in that situation, but gay kissing is actually worse. You are potentially taking away a parent's ability to decide when a child is confronted with alternate lifestyles and forcing the parent to take a morality stance, unprepared, in public, potentially leading to spectacle. Chemda, would you make out at a clown party? I see only a very minor difference in environment, and if I was working at the pool or clown party, I'd would have told you the same thing, "not here, not now". And I'd be pretty unsympathetic to any argument, especially ones on personal rights. At a restaurant: Are there mouth breathing idiots/staff about? If yes, wrong as it may be, you should probably expect them to behave like mouth breathing idiots. What's that saying, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". Same thing, when you are surprised, you share a little blame. Giving the finger to gawking from mouth breathers is a fairly good response, it's something they get, a gesture they understand on their level. But don't expect that to invoke or inspire education. If it was someplace you have to make a reservation for, if it was someplace that served grown up drinks to a grown up crowd, well, that's a different atmosphere entirely, and you probably should have been offended. From a cabbie: See mouth breathing idiot awareness rule. Is the cabbie driving a cab while he works his way through med school or is he driving a cab because that's all he can do? Throwing things at him, that's the kind of bravery only women think there aren't consequences for. I'd assume if I assaulted him in the same way, he'd pull gun or a knife on me, much like that recent massacre on the subway in NYC that started from someone tossing garbage at a bin and hitting the wrong MF. One could make an often debated analogy here about female culpability. Should a woman expect to be safe nuding up while drunk at a frat party? Passing out on some strangers bed at said party? She's not guilty of anything, being a hapless agent provocateur certainly isn't illegal, but does it make you the same kind of victim as someone raped in her own bed by a burglar? Does wearing jeans in Italy mean you are asking for it?

As for an opinion on the subject, I haven't even heard the program yet, but I bet that I will both agree and disagree with everything Spooky said. |

Keith - "I go to this flea market sometimes on weekends, right by my house."
Chemda - "Because you're turning into your mother?" Keith - "I guess..." Chemda - "Is that how you're avoiding turning into your father?" *no response* Epic. |
