Here's how bail works (it looks long, but it's actually pretty simple):

The judge sets your bail at $300,000. The judge usually wants a bail low enough that you can pay it, but high enough that you won't want to skip town to avoid capture. So if you're rich, your bail will be higher. Also the severity of your crime, obviously a traffic ticket will have low bail (who wants to skip town over a traffic ticket) but for a murder they'll obviously set it really high.

If you don't want to pay it, you don't have to. You get to stay in jail until your trial (which can be over a month). Then they bring you to trial and set your sentence (the time spent in jail doesn't do anything, unless your lawyer can weasel it out as time served).

If you want to pay the bail, and have the money to do so: you pay the $300,000 to a cashier at court, then you're free to go until your trial. If you show up to trial, you get the money back at the end of your trial, less any fines you have to pay, and begin to serve your sentence.

If you want to pay the bail, but don't have the money to do so, you can do two things. First, your lawyer can negotiate with the judge to set a lower bail. If that fails, you go to a bondsman who puts up 90% of the bail for you, but you pay 10%. If you show up to trial, the bondsman gets back the full 100% (including your 10), so he makes money.

If you don't show up to trial, you forfeit the money and they put out a warrant for your arrest. If you put up the bail yourself, you just lose that money. If you got a bondsman to put it up for you, he'll now have to sue you to get the bail back.

Usually the bondsmen will also dub as bounty hunters, so you have a warrant for your arrest, and since he has to look for you anyway, he might as well collect the bounty (reward for capturing you). Plus he gets info from the cops about your location, so bounty hunting is a good idea for bonds people.

Hey thanks for that info - my partner loves to watch Dog the Bounty Hunter and I always wondered how the system worked and what the deal was with bail bondsman etc. As a side note Dog's wife has the most retardedly massive tits in the history of all tits.

I'm probably wrong, but i feel like the misunderstanding between the Sarge and Keith is due tot the flimsiness of internet communications.

Sounds like many of those internet arguments gone bad. Keith made a comment, the Sarge maybe already expected a possible backlash (sionce Sparrow is a part of the community and he is less so), maybe he was in the mindset you get when you expect to be attacked. Keith said what he had to say, others on the show and forums, added tiny bits to the statement and the sarge took it as an attack.

Also following the pint with an email back and forth made it more hazy.

Keith said "it's strange", the word got filtered through the forums and everything and came as "you were shady". So defensiveness got in the picture and things heated up.

I don't think it's a coincidence that his post immediately followed an attack. Specifically, it was said that he lacked "integrity and sensitivity" and he wasn't thought "poorly of until now". I don't think his email to Keith was a response to Keith's words, but what Keith's words provoked and how he perceived he was portrayed to the audience.

I'm not on anyone's side because I don't know shit about the guy and it really isn't my place anyway, but I feel like its rather disingenuous to say nobody attacked him.

For two guys that were both in the Army they seem to be extremely sensitive. Both should grow some balls and stop reacting to every single little emotion.

Here's the Disney documentary with staged Lemming mass suicides, Disney didn't originate the myth but they are the ones who popularized it. Lemmings do migrate en mass, and along the way individuals lemmings don't make it. However if some were to fall off a cliff the rest wouldn't follow them.

It won an academy award for best documentary. Also, this scene was exposed as a fake a while ago, long before "Shooting in the Wild."

Unrelatedly, if Keith wants another film suggestion there's 1952's The Quiet Man starring John Wayne as an American from Pittsburgh who travels to Ireland and falls in love with his bride there. I think there is a solid chance that Keith might not like the film- it doesn't take a psychic to predict that a film titled The Quiet Man might be a little slow. The film is also praised for its cinematography (usually a red flag for Keith). He could watch it more as an instructional video, for example if Kat has any brothers Keith will have to fight them, not Kat's father. And if Kat gets angry and takes a train to get away from Keith, Keith has to find her and make her walk all the way back. [Gentleman's Power]

I have to agree with Keith on this one. I don't care that all of the Guidos aren't Italian on the Jersey Shore. I grew up in Staten Island and they were all ethnicities.

But this is bullshit! Documentaries that are portraying things in certain ways need to make sure that those things happened! Otherwise, what are we watching? A lie! It's not an entertainment show, it's an informational show. Even Peyton Manning would agree.
