I don't enjoy getting drunk. I hate getting sick. I really love drinking beer and the worst part of getting drunk is ruining my taste for beer for a week following a bender. It's also so embarrassing to not be able to see straight or maintain a conversation. I had about a half-dozen experiences that ended face down in a toilet in my early twenties. That's enough. I drink because I fucking love drinking beer and 1-2 with dinner or 3-4 hanging out is perfect for me.

oh - and what I originally sat down to write before getting distracted by the poll and comments

Keith and Chemda - I love the way you work together to interview people. What a great show. So many fun and interesting exchanges. I really enjoyed this episode. I can't wait to get both the Dive Bar book and Keith's autobiography.

Exactly. I haven't puked since my teenage years, I've never been thrown/carried out of a bar. I get a little overly flirtatious, but not slutty, and even that is rare. I never, ever get angry. Mean drunks are scary.

Not everyone is so cool and collected that they're able to be in utter control of their emotions even when they're fucked up.

One of the reasons for my drinking was also the fact that it made uninhibited and able to talk and do all the shit i wanted to when i was more awkward and shy.

Now i do the same even when i'm sober but when i was a bumbling teen that was a medicine against demons and awkwardness. Not cool, but that's what it was.

I've been assisted out of a Perkins bathroom when I couldn't make the walk through the restaurant to the parking lot unassisted. Getting a round of applause for being a drunk mess by the 1am crowd a shitty diner? Not a proud moment.

I honestly don't remember the last time I puked from drinking....2007, maybe?

It really depends on what I am drinking. Tequila makes me a fucking nutcase, so I tend to avoid it. I am pretty much a strictly beer girl. I don't like mixing, because I get the "liquor ickies". I DO use drinking as a crutch in social situations, though. I am pretty reserved around people I don't know well, but when I have a few in me, I loosen up and get more social. There have been a number of times that I completely over do it just to compensate for my uncomfortableness. Not so much a good thing.

That's already a mature thing, but when i was in the "i need booze to ease the pain", i voluntarily drank mismatched stuff that i knew i couldnt handle, often with an empty stomach, with the purpose to get fucked more and faster. It got me loose and made me forget. Of course i felt like shit and full of shame the next day but i did it all over as soon as i felt better.

NOWŁ i know how to handle it, but back then i didnt. And i needed a whole bunch of slapping to learn to behave and be a nice professional drunk.

When I was in college there was only one time that I was carried out of a club by the bouncer. It was total bullshit though.

I saw a girl dancing on the dance floor and I came up and asked her if she wanted to dance. She said, "okay." We started dancing and all of a sudden, BOOM, pain in the back of my head and I fell to the floor. I got up swinging and the bouncer, who everyone called bear cause he was as big as one, LIFTED me and started walking me out of the club. I started yelling, "get the fuck off of me, let me go, I'll fucking sue you!" He dropped me, but still escorted me out.

Apparently the girl's boyfriend coldcocked me in the back of the head. Somehow I got thrown out. Still can't figure that one out. Admittedly, I was pretty wasted at the time.
