I feel the point that Chemda keeps trying to drive home about professional football players is a little misguided. She is arguing that how these people relate to the media is part of their job. That is a part of it. To argue that relations with the media are "part of how much you're going to get paid" or "how much your career is going to grow" is ludicrous.
Football, and professional sports in general, is a form of entertainment, but it is not like other forms of entertainment (movies, comedy, music, etc...) I think how a player treats or interacts with the media factors very little into that "job." You could argue they want to get endorsements and therefore need good, positive exposure. OK. But you're talking about a locker room full of guys who don't have the star power to get endorsements and a couple that do have that power. Some may have aspirations, but there may be many players that are perfectly content with cashing a very big paycheck and not giving a shit what the media thinks. And I am positive that a general manger or owner for a team barely takes this kind of stuff into consideration when they're deciding whether or not to sign and how much to pay a player. If "Wide Receiver A" has a proven track record as a good player that puts up good stats and doesn't have a bad injury history, they could care less about how they interact with the media. As far as this story goes, I can see both sides, but lean towards "maybe you could dress more professional." However, I don't think every player in the locker room needs the media as much as Chemda believes. Positive exposure is important in some parts of the entertainment industry, but not all... Also, I guarantee nobody cares about this story ten days from now. -Nate Hoss |

Sex coupons are wierd, if you weren't going to do it anyway I'm not going to force you into it by pulling out some coupon from 3 years ago and demanding the act performed immediately.
Even if it's something that you do to her, like anal for example, if she doesn't enjoy it enough to ask for it regularly then why would you force the displeasure oof an anal invasion on her? It's like this time when I was in town, out on the piss, and a strip club was offering 'free dance' coupons to passersby. I already know that strippers aren't actually interested in me when they grind on my dick so why would I lower that interest even further by proclaiming how cheap I am by whipping out a free dance coupon. I don't even know if that analogy had anything to do with what I said above. Fuck it, either she's into it enough to do it without being forced or she isn't into it at all so why would I push it? |

Man, I love the New Pornographers. I think it's hilarious and awesome that this story was big enough to be discussed on KATG.
However, I remember being put off by their name until I listened to their music. I remember not buying one of their CDs because I was worried of my mom seeing the CD. And from what I've heard of the band in interviews they all seem to be really nice, down to earth people. I don't know what the point of this post was. I guess to say I like the New Pornographers? |
