The new studio sounds kind of echoey. I think having the merch on the walls absorbed a lot of that in the old studio. You may want to get some treatments up on the wall to absorb some of that sound if you won't be lining the walls with shirts and hoodies.

Not to the asshole that says you need to fix something without actually saying how to do it. Here is a list of solutions from easiest to most complex (ie expensive).

1. Install bookshelfs that fill a good portion of the wall where you can put your books, cds, etc. Preferably soft bulky things like books that will absorb most high frequency sound.

2. Get a rug for under the desks (or those gel office mats if you're worried about drink spillage)

3. Install floor to ceiling tapestries on wooden rods on atleast two walls preferably the ones behind the microphones to absorb reflected sound before the miicrophones get it. This system is also best done over the windows to keep the outside noise out. Thicker the material the better.

4. Keep a plush couch along the wall.

5. If the door to the room is hollow core replace it with a solid door.

6. Install a drop ceiling with accoustic ceiling tile atleast 8 inches below the existing ceiling. (recovered ceiling tile and grid is pretty cheap).

7.1 You could drape the ceiling but this almost always looks bad in a low ceiling environment and gathers a lot of dust.

All Fabric treatments should be cleaned quarterly or they will lead to issues with allergies and possibly mold.

Now you would get into
-Applying double layers of drywall.
-building offset wall systems
-a whole bunch of more expensive shit.
None of it should be necessary.

The key is treating 4 of 6 surfaces in the room with something.
For example
1. Couch on one wall.
2. Bookshelves on another.
3. Drape treatments on 2 other walls.
4. Rug or other matt below the equipment.

that's assuming that they have the studio all to themselves 24/7.
