But it has worked today. Scientology started much in the same way that Mormonism did -- some dude wrote some shit, people believed it and converted. They started out small but their numbers grew. Mormonism is bigger than Scientology only because it's had 150 years to grow, but their ideas are just as batshit crazy. In an earlier post you simply dismissed this as cultish behavior. But that is how all religions start. As cults. If they get mainstreamed, people call them religions.

Also, authority figures in mainstream religions change the rules around all the time and their followers just swallow it because it's people in charge who are telling them that God thinks this way. The Catholic church has reversed itself on all kinds of issues, from abortion to slavery.

Sorry, I'm siding with Bob on this one, there is a difference between being able to identify someone as a skeptic, and someone who is capable of being skeptical.
You're trying to say that someone who is skeptical of anything is automatically a skeptic? Then you would have to qualify pretty much all of humanity as skeptics, at which point the word would be meaningless.
i've sufficiently addressed everything you've said. you just repeated what Bob said.
how can you say that a person who is skeptical is not a skeptic?
i can say that everyone is a skeptic, just like everyone is a liar. if someone lies, they are a liar. not everything you say has to be a lie for you to be a liar, right? thus, someone who is skeptical is indeed a skeptic

I'm thinking of it in degrees, I wouldn't call someone a skeptic unless they were habitually skeptical, and I wouldn't call someone a liar unless they habitually told lies. If all people are liars and skeptics, then we no longer have a use for those words, you can just call them people. If you don't see it that way, then I guess we just disagree.

Someone should have sent in feedback as Slampokes saying they would fuck him.

you're looking at skepticism as a belief system!!! how many times do i have to explain the same simple fucking concept??
you do have use for the words. if you really don't think that someone who lies is a liar, then you have no logic. how can explain something rational to someone who is irrational?

Dear FletchLives,

I have played baseball in my life. Am I entitled to the salary of a baseball player? One time I sang "Can't Hardly Wait" on Rock Band. Can I call myself a singer now? You have opened up a whole new semantic world to me. Thank you.

Yours,
The Thanker

you're trying to be sarcastically funny, but it's helping to prove what i've been saying.
