I have 2 issues with this idea:

1) The prisoners in this contest should not somehow profit financially from this.

2) The prisoners are being exploited for financial gain… I can see this turn into some kind of bullshit reality show.

Gender or the perception of gender is another element that can be brought into sex play just like power or the perception of power. It's a taboo, and like most taboos there is a totally safe, totally fun way to approach it with sex to the benefit of all parties involved.

No it was not said, but the article I read online had very few details so I don't think that it's too much of a stretch to imagine a scenario where the contestants would get some kind of compensation.

From the photo I saw it looked like the event was being televised, perhaps that was just the news channels.
