Atheism vs religion
The "big bang" is one of the most widely accepted theories of all time, accepted by almost all scientists and religions. It says milliseconds after the inflation, all that existed was heat and atoms (roughly).
So... If you beleive in creation, you believe a higher power created it all. If you believe in the big-bang without religion you believe that given enough time, hydrogen atoms will self-arrange into everything you see around you. They are equally implausible scenarios. |

I do find Lucas's laugh annoying, but this was the first time it really bothered me during a show. Maybe that's a credit to Christian that he got him to crack up enough for it to irritate me. When he's on the couch it's fine, probably partially cause I can only hear his laugh when I'm listening thru earbuds.

OH MY GOD I NEVER THOUGHT TINY WINGS WAS ACTUALLY ABOUTA FAT BIRD! ITS TRUE!
anyway, as an atheist i dont doubt there might have been something that eventually set in motion the creation of the universe: my idea is that whatever that was, it was an occurrance with no conscience, entity or will that by chance started the reaction that caused big bang. whther it was chemical or physical, it is not a being, or anything that can be prayed to without doing a meanigless act that only satisfies your own insecurities about existential meaning. if you want to call that external power "god", than the chance is that god was there but then diappaeared and never came back. religion, prayer and mass are rituals that make you feel comfortable. as are beliefs in higher meanings or afterlife, but they arent rational options. religious people can say that "theres no proof of the opposite", the only proof of the non-existence of god is that that there is no proof of him being here. if he existed than hye would be indifferent, absent, cruel, petty and taking credit for stuff that men do. spirituality is the comfortable couch for people who are scared of rational thought. i understand why you sit on it, but still its just a couch. |
