Not true. I have to disagree with this, and I work in retail (getting out of that as soon as I graduate) so I have to deal with this shit sometimes. If you get bad customer service and you don't mention it to anyone higher up, then that service is never going to change. Sometimes, management might not be aware of how shitty an employee is. If you act like a reasonable adult to a manager and not a "customer is always right" pretentious asshole, in my experience, the majority of the time you will be heard and compensated and your actions might help improve that location. If you don't want to talk to a manager, most retail companies have a website that you can send comments, praise, criticism. About Gamestop - FUCK THAT PLACE. I rarely walk into one and I'm only there with friends when I do. Not only do they have a practice of hiring idiots, but they do treat the good ones like shit. I hate going into them sometimes because I have a vagina, and I lost count of how many fucking times the guys there either spoke to me like I'm a moron (cause girls don't play games, right lulz??) and I felt like every time I had to prove that NO I am not buying this particular game for a boyfriend. The last time I was in a Gamestop, I found a xbox 360 game that I had never heard of before in the survival horror genre for super cheap and decided to buy it. The neckbeard at the counter decided to comment on my purchase. "Worst game ever, and it has terrible graphics." In fact, it's the fucking commentary that I hate about Gamestop employees! I can't remember a time when I did buy a game there in the past where some guy or rarely a girl comments on a purchase. It's that nerd desire to share that you know everything about whatever. |

How is it that I never have customer service problems? I've been to gamestop before, pretty decent sevice. I've called cellphone support to get charges taken off my bill (done instantly) and I've called about fraudulent debit card charges (reasonable support with good directions and proper call transfer flow). I call about internet not working, mention that I've gone through the rebooting steps, and they skip to the real help. Do I just have a nice aura about me?

I don't know how you haven't had problems with GameStop. I'm always nice to people in a customer relations job because I empathize with it. I'm normally more patient than I should be and very understanding even when people do a terrible job. GameStop employees make me want to put their face through the fucking glass cases.
You will occasionally get some cool GameStop employees, but the rest are shitbags. |
