If you think smokers are considerate have a look at the smoking area of your work and report back. It's the dirtiest place at our work and even though there are 3 ashtrays in a small area the ground is littered with butts. Smokers may think they're considerate but have no real idea about how much more you notice when you're a non smoker because you aren't desensitized to it.
Search google for smoke butt litter and you'll see plenty of disturbing facts about how wide spread it is. "Cigarette butts are Australia’s number one cause of litter, accounting for 16 per cent of all rubbish." "An estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts are littered worldwide every year (Cigarette Litter Organisation 2001)"
