If you and your phone are silent AND you cover the screen so that it isn't blaring light into the darkness and being a visual distraction ... that's ok with me.

I mean, I use my phone as a torch at night sometimes. Anything that can be used as a torch should not be open in a movie theatre unless it's in the hands of an usher or being used to send me a photo of boobs.

I think its funny how after I read the story the recording was at the bottom of the page and the voice was exactly what I thought it would sound like.

i think it is fine to use your phone on silent in the movies as long as you are in the last couple of rows and there is no one behind you.

How about if you're the only one in the theater?

What if it's your own livingroom but you call it a movie theater?

Manners police: turn off phone when in the theatre, it should be a law.

Movies are sound and light. Don't bring any of your own in.

As great as it is that this Drafthouse warning is getting sp much attention, I feel as if even the people who are laughing at it and agreeing with it are still going to use their phones in the theater. Everyone knows they shouldn't text while driving, which trumps inconsiderate with dangerous, but they do it anyway.

I also feel like I've contributed to this same discussion five times here before.

Julie's laugh is pretty good and I love the random question to the couch.

I voted no, because I know it's a dickhead move, but I am a dickhead who's answered his phone on multiple occasions in the theater when the call was directly related to me getting something I want.

It's not okay but I've been on my phone before the movie has started before. Never after the trailers start tho.

I go to movie screenings to see early releases of films and because they are so worried about movie pirating they actually make you turn off your phones. They have security guards in the building to kick people out if they are caught on their phone. It was the best movie experience I've had in a while.
