Regarding HeyAnne's gift of a $50 visa gift card being denied at the restaurant:
From what I understand, a lot of restauants will put a "hold" on visa/mastercard type gift cards, usually ranging from 20-50 dollars, after they are swiped, for one reason or another. So while your final bill may only be let's say 30 dollars, they machine will deny the card because the restaurant will put a 50 dollar hold on it. It's happened to me a bunch of times when I lived in Texas, so that might be what happened to Keith and Cat

Wow Russell Crowe finally does one worthwhile thing, and immediately takes it back. I don't know whether my respect for him has increased as a result of this (It certainly couldn't have diminished).
To be totally clear: circumcision is genital mutilation perpetrated against the most helpless members of our species. Anyone supporting the practice is more interested in cultural inertia (or kiddy fiddling) than hygiene or whatever other bullshit excuse they give. Anyone who thinks that circumcision brings them closer to God or makes them a better person or lover or whatever is totally welcome to have the procedure done when they reach the age of majority. I have no problem with consenting adults castrating themselves if they want to. And I'm not going to back down from this stance, like a certain violent, shitty Australian "actor." |

Android App-ologies
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say "I'm sorry, BUT. . . " JUST APOLOGIZE AND MOVE ON! More excuses just make you look like an asshole, dude. Your app failed. Keith and Chemda made a legitimate request. I understand how it might be a bit embarrassing to be called out on something like that (I would imagine you take at least some pride in your work, and it's hard to admit that a part of it failed). But the more you get defensive, the worse you look. Come on dude. Just swallow your pride and move on. It's more fun to be on Team KATG than off.

I had listened to the show a few times using Joel's Droid app and it worked every time. I even sent in positive feedback about the app that Keith read live over the air. What you need to understand is that apps on the Droid market are different than Itunes.
Case in point, I went to the market to check out the app that the listener suggested, “Google Listen” and the first 5 reviews I saw were 1 star, all of which said “Doesn’t work.” or “Very glitchy, do not use.” However, the listener had said “It works every time.” It probably did on his phone, but on other phones it did not. And that is one of the difficulties of the droid market. The “positive” (some would say limiting) feature of Iphone apps is that they work for just ONE type of phone. The Droid system is on hundreds of types of phones from dozens of manufacturers. That means some people can run things better than others based on the phone they have. Apps on the market are not always perfect, as I’m sure Joels wasn’t either. I had great experience with it, because I don't have a piece of shit phone and I understand how my phone works. Most people do not, and should just get an Iphone. Joel had just put it on the market. He wanted feedback. I’m sure he would have worked on it until it was perfect. But that takes time. I understand wanting to always have a professional product with the KATG logo on it, but I feel that this is a bit different. You talk about not being able to work with someone that doesn't respect you, but Keith provoked him initially. Maybe Joel was a douche afterwards, but he was doing work for you for zero dollars and didn't feel like that work was appreciated. Either way, the bridge has needlessly been burnt for a lot of fans to be able to listen live, and that is really unfortunate. Last edited by riles; 06-15-2011 at 01:11 PM. |

I was listening to this episode as I cooked dinner and right as I was sloppily draining a can of tuna, Keith started talking about the tuna can opener that HeyAnne sent him and ended up narrating my exact experience in real time. It was fucking bizarre. I actually spilled tuna water all over my hands at the exact moment he said the words.
