First of all Fuck the Yankees. "Rooting for the Yankees is like going to a casino, rooting for the house and being a dick about it," -Doug Stanhope

That said, the guy has hundreds of millions and I do not. If I caught it and he wanted it, it would cost him some number of dollars with a comma.......or two. Right thing to do my ass. This is a clear-cut case of looking out for number one. It's not like you'd be doing anything wrong or immoral to keep it. So he hit it, big deal, what about the 10 year-old Philipino kid that made it? Wouldn't it be more right to give it to him since he was paid a penny to make it rather than Jeter who was paid millions to swing at it?

Does Jeter look grateful?

$250,000 would have benefited any fan much more than a place on Derek Jeter's trophy mantle.

I have a feeling that that guy is kicking himself now. In the moment he probably didnt realise just how much it would be worth and just thought of it as a regular baseball.

I wasnt complaining about Keith and Chemda asking personal questions- just that one in particular. If someone has been abused as a child,it may well be the last thing they want a spotlight shone one. You're kinda banking on them being over it.I can't recall ever hearing an interesting response to that question on the show, but Keith said people have been open about it before so maybe I'm wrong.

Are there clauses in baseball stadiums that say you're legally entitled to own the ball you catch? Because if not, then we're basically all implying the "finders keepers" rule, which is not legally enforceable.

Just share your story about being touched already. I'm not going to beg.

There is no way I'd give that ball back!

I would keep the ball, but for a week following, waffle back and forth as to whether or not I'd give it back. I'd tell the local papers I'm considering donating it to the Hall of Fame, considering selling it, considering giving it to Jeter, etc.

Then, I'd hold a press conference (one of the local papers would surely pick up the costs) and give a sermon about everything that is wrong with baseball, including the licensing, stadium naming, mega-salaries, even watered-down beer.

I would give the ball to MLB in exchange for them making EVERY game of the season available free for download 2 days after the game takes place. Jeter must give me a lifetime membership to that fancy-pants gym he owns. And someone better pay my student loans!!
