Someone earlier ("thirteen" to be specific) said they'd want Keith to go after teens. I disagree.
I'd rather it be "Keith and the Girl" over "The Girl sits across from a Tombstone with an engraving of a Public Service Announcement on it about not fuckin with crazy ass kids." It'd make a good 2-3 eps, but it'd wear fast. Kids are fuckin nuts nowadays. And of course he's not going to change this woman...who REALLY tries to change people and teach lessons? All you're saying is that fucking with someone on the wrong day is possible. We all know this. Not that I'm against behavior like this. On the contrary, fuck'em. As we age, we become worth less and less. Eventually we're all basically here to tell stories, be creepy, and die. Well, she just got a story, so she's aight. About the comedian thing, I see it a lot like hammering nails. Most people take a hammer and tap the nail in bit by bit. This would be most comics. Keith's the guy who likes to take the hammer and try to smash the little fucker in with one big swing. Either way, the nail's in the wall. I think Christian and every other comic who has a problem with Keith's style is jealous of the fact that he hammers the nail in with an accuracy that's not entirely fair. See, I'll elaborate on previous poster's statements. Let's see the nails as audiences. Keith knows exactly who his audience is because most of the people there are at most 2 degrees of separation away from a listener who knows and appreciates his comedy. The only way Keith can bomb ever is if he goes up and is a totally different person than the one we're all used to hearing on the podcast. You buy a ticket because he's funny. Not the funny you hear on Comedy Central (that's not a jab, by the way). That's just a 45 minute or so glimpse into that person's funny. We KNOW Keith. Almost on a disturbing level. A good deal of people here not only know where this man's taken shits, but the consistency and the color of some of them. So basically, not only do you know him, think he's funny, understand his humor, and have learned proper comic audience etiquette (example: shut the fuck up and don't heckle), but you also root for the guy. You're a nail that WANTS to be hammered (may the jokes fly). Sure some may go to see him fail, but I think even they don't want him TO fail. It's just that if it happens, they wanna be there so they can crane-neck like some kind of road accident. Honestly, I think that building an intimate world around stand-up and THEN performing instead of performing for a bunch of randoms nightly is brilliant, but in the stand-up world, it's kinda cheating. Some might even take this and think I'm saying Keith is less funny. Not true. If Christian bombs, he's no less funny than if he kills. One of the two dancers can kill a dance just like the audience can kill a show. Comedy is about perception. Keith's just much less likely to get an audience that perceives him as not being funny. If the above is too long and you skipped to the bottom: Kids are nuts and Keith cheated comedy itself. P.S. P.P.S. "Little Baby Faggot" business cards. I'm not sayin, I'm just sayin. |
