I understand how Chemda feels about her parents. My parents are complete jerks to me and always comment on my weight and my job. They hate my boyfriend, and the funny thing is they have never even met him.
Also when I was about 16 I told my mother that I was bi. She told me bisexuality doesn't exist and that I was just lying to myself. After that I just didnt bring it up and when I dated women I just wouldnt bring them home. And when I told her I was pagan she literary laughed out loud. Meanwhile my father and her raised me Unitarian Universalist, at least my religion believes in something and isn't just a political cult.
So 6 months ago I just cut them out of my life and I've been so much happier and I'm not judge all the time about bullshit.

If I may ask, Why paganism? Every Pagan I've ever met treats paganism as a fun mythology to pactice rather than their actual belief for them to follow.

The basic belief of paganism is that everything has a soul. That being said there are many different forms, and each pagan has their own idea of what that means. Me personally I tend to follow the traditional Celtic paganism where I believe there is multiple gods and goddess and I also believe that everyone has an animal spirit which guides them, mine personally is a river otter. But like you I have met some pagans that don't really understand what they are talking about and just use paganism as an excuse to rebel, or as a mythology lesson which is frustrating, and just obnoxious.

Is it a shame you got stuck with an otter? I know you deal with the hand goddesses give you, but is it like too bad? Unless maybe you live on a houseboat I suppose.

If I could have a Pegasus, I'd switch to Peganism.

EDIT: By the way, a friend of mine complains to me about the app store conflicting with open source licenses. No porn and no freedom of code? Fuck Jobs.

When it comes to family I treat it more how Keith does then Chemda. Once I got to about 13 and started noticing more of what goes on around me instead of just playing with the other kids, I realised that the adults barely liked each other and once they had a few drinks would get very passive aggressive. They seemed to just hang out because of some misguided sense of "family" and on the drive home my parents would bitch about everyone else that was there. Even as a kid I could tell my uncle and aunt didn't really like us or care about us but we were good for keeping their kids occupied for a few hours. By the time I was 17 I'd stopped seeing anyone but my parents and sister because if we're not friends, what's the point? I tried to connect once again when I was 22 and it was exactly the same so that was it.

And I'm sorry Steampunk but "when I told her I was pagan she literary laughed out loud" and "everyone has an animal spirit which guides them, mine personally is a river otter" are the best laughs I've had this week.

I think Keith makes a very good point when he says that when a redneck doesn't like people because of their ethnicity or sexual preference their called racist but with ethnic people its just tradition. Chemda says that her parents aren't racist they hire people of all colours, its just they don't want their kids with someone of a different race. News flash, thats the definition of racism. Rednecks are raised believing that people of other races are inferior, its the same damn excuse.

Also You shouldn't say "Well, my parents fed me, and thats more than most kids got." how is that an excuse? Its like saying the kids Micheal Jackson raped can't complain because most kids who are raped don't get to go to a private amusement park.

Keith went on a rant about this joke earlier:
In the 80s, we had President Reagan, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope. Now we have President Obama, no cash and no hope.
Well, it only took 1 day:
When Reagan was in office, we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. With Obama, we have no cash, no hope and no jobs.
Can someone please kill William Hurt so we also have no more hurt?
