I'm of the Episcopal faith (church of England) and we used to say: And with thy spirit. Now we say: And also with you. I think it's the fact that old people are the only ones in church, so they said, "fuck it, we'll go back to the old way."

Parents dying...

Keith and Chemda talking about parents dying reminded me of a time I was on the train and I was playing on my iPhone and a text popped up. All I saw was "mom died" because I was mid-angry birds and automatically cancelled the message. I freaked and thought my brother was telling me via text that our mom died, until I exited out of the game and went into my text messages (which seemed to take forever!!!) and saw that he wrote "moms mom died" meaning our grandmother. That was the stupidest way to say that and it took a good hour for my body to relax from the flood of stress hormones.

I'm surprise keith was so shocked to hear this coach go off. I was in band, football, soccer and debate in high school and I can remember each one of those coaches/teachers having a similar moment where they lost their shit and yelled at us just like that. At the moment it jolted me into getting my shit together, but I never thought much about it afterwards. And keith may not care much for this argument but I feel its true, other people aren't going to coddle you when you're fucking up, specially if what your doing reflects directly on them.

If I remember right neither K or C were in sports in high school? Good thing Lauren was there to basically say what I was thinking in regards to what coach's can be like.

Chemda's right.

And he can absolutely put in the freshmen team. If he was going to lose anyway, it's another way to shame his seniors into acting right, which was also the purpose of his yelling.

Exactly what I was thinking. My band director was way more intense than this coach. Worked for us though. It's about discipline and if you don't follow the rules, there are consequences. And when laps around the track and push-ups stop working, there's yelling involved.

The guy yelled his nuts off and his team still lost by a record margin.

Anyone arguing against Keith is arguing against science.

Ha..motivation...

We had coaches that used to have the "fire & brimstone" speech's but really after a while its water off a ducks back...these days you nearly have to have a degree in psychology to work out what motivates the individual...and don't forget if you piss off the coach he can just dump you for someone else...now that's great motivation!
