The fact that anybody voted no to the poll is a potentially awesome premise for a made-for-TV Christmas special.

Keith Malley: Successful talkshow host, author & comedian in love with a hot & brainy irish girl. If your parents had any effect it seems to have worked out ok.

I'll be out back diggin holes for the rest of the day cos my parents were great but I'm currently single & unemployed...

I just want to chime in as someone who was positively affected by her parents. My father was religious and we went to church every week, however he was also very intellectually curious and we went to the library every week as well. He encouraged me to question things and to seek answers on my own.

My mother always pushed me to go farther and to test my limits. I know that's because she grew up in a truly horrific home (abusive alcoholic father and manic depressive mother) and had to take care of herself from a young age. So she always wanted to make sure that we could take care of ourselves, too. But overarching this, she always wanted us to be happy first. So it was a kind of back and forth push with her to always try to be better, but be happy, too. But I never got the harassment that other girls get to be married and have kids. And she trained me to be independent.

I don't post this to brag. I've heard so many terrible stories about families, and my own mother grew up in a terrible home. I feel very blessed to be in a family that gets along with each other and likes to hang out with each other. The worst crap that happened to me was not caused by my family.

It was great to hear Patrice once again, I missed her ever so much.

Oh and hello Keith sir, how are you today? I see.... Um.... Your tripping on the parents thing..... I've listened to every katg episode some multiple times and I think your parents affected you greatly. I'm not here to have a debate about your life since it's yours and all but I just wanted to throw my opinion out there.

I voted yes because if a parent is good, bad or not in the picture at all it affects the child's behavior for the rest of their lives.

A lot of this recurring debate comes down to the individuals interpretation of the word "affect".

My parents were affected by their parents (overbearing) and they tried to take the opposite approach with us, went to far in the other direction and affected us in a different way (direction-less).

For security questions, I typically choose an answer that I'll remember, but doesn't have anything to do with the question. Just choose a phrase like "Nina Pinta Santa Maria" and use it to answer every question.

First Pet?
Nina Pinta Santa Maria

Mother's Maiden Name?
Nina Pinta Santa Maria

etc.

Makes it easy to remember but hard for a ne'er-do-well to guess.

Also, Keith is completely in denial about how much his Dad has affected him.
