We did the United Nations Chapel - a nondenominational chapel, which suited our theologically-mixed marriage.
And rather than doing the reception miles away from the ceremony, we held it within walking distance. I've been to weddings where the reception's taken place in different towns and one where it was in a different state! How about the weddings where the reception is held hours after the event? What are the wedding guests to do while you're taking pictures? One wedding I went to we had to hang out at a local mall for two hours waiting for the reception. Do your wedding guests a favor and make things easy. Sure it's "your day" but do you want your wedding to be remembered as that pain-in-the-neck event? Oh, and if youre a guest and youre giving a gift instead of a check - mail it to them and give the wedding party a card letting them know their gift is on the way. One wedding I went to this guy gave a large framed painting (it was wrapped so who knows what it was). What a pain that must have been to have to transport back home after the wedding. Heres something to do - saying youre going to get married is a good way to get free meals at some restaurants. Tell them that youre trying considering using their location for your wedding and ask them if you could sample what they serve. The clincher is to have a buddy go with you pretending to be the best man who can only stay there for a few minutes. Just before he has to go, have him pull the host aside and ask if they can provide you with a free sampling. Guaranteed! |
