$160 to get your car back from the towing company? Here in Colorado, it's upto $280. Apparently, the government sets the maximum price that towing companies could charge (which is probably the only reason they aren't charging you $1000 - afterall, they have your car and your car is probably worth more than $1000, so of course you're going to pay to get it back). About ten years ago, the cost was $100, so I guess the towing companies here have been lobbying the government to increase how much money they can charge people.
It really sucks because your average person is not going to fight to lower towing fees, but towing companies have a huge financial interest in getting the government to increase how much they can charge, so the towing companies are always going to put more effort into it. |

I just listened to this episode and I had to tell you about my warranty horror story.
I got an extended mechanical warranty for my 2001 Z06 Chevrolet Corvette because when things break, it's really expensive to repair. So the water pump goes out. It's $1,100 to repair. I'm thinking, no problem. I have warranty. I get a phone call from the dealer that I need to bring in all my maintenance records. No problem, I thought. They look thru my paper work and they tell me that I missed an oil change. No way, I'm meticulous about that. Anyway, long story short. They refused to repair the car because I supposedly missed an oil change. I know what you're thinking, cause I thought the same thing. WHAT THE FUCK DOES THE WATER PUMP HAVE TO DO WITH AN OIL CHANGE? The warranty company refused to honor the warranty. After arguing with the warranty company I went to the better business bureau, they did nothing. I ended up having to pay for the repairs. Here's the best part, I'm out the $2,000 that I paid for the extended warranty. My advice, NEVER GET EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR YOUR CAR! |
