That "shoot me in the leg" thing actually happened in my neck of the woods, just a few miles away. Two dudes were roommates, and one of them just "wanted to know how it felt to be shot", so they borrowed one of their grandfathers' 22 rifle, then drove together to Walmart to buy bullets, then drove around for like an hour until the guy who wanted to get shot said "okay, let's pull over and do this". According to the shooter's statement, he kept hesitating because he didn't really want to do it, but finally the shootee said "do you want me to show you how it's done?" after which the shooter finally did it. His whole defense is "I really didn't want to do it but he kept pressuring me".

Probably wouldn't help getting cameras into John Petrie's jail, but we'd be up to 3 (maybe 4) KATG deaths, so maybe the media might notice.
