A heavy curtain is exactly what you need. Curtains or carpet on the walls will help absorb sound.
Unless you use a heavy door with sealed edges designed for soundproofing, adding a door probably won't make the difference that you want it to. The door frame also has to be strong enough to support the new door your adding. A cheaper solution is to have someone check your compressor settings for you, and add studio gear called a Gate that will cut off external noise when you're not talking. Or just get the curtain. |

I'm sure that there are people were truly triggered by violent movies and video games. I just think that the number has to be so low that it wouldn't justify me not enjoy them.
And slippery slope is dumb. Honestly, every time Chemda brings it up, I'm shaking my head in real life. EH DUR DUH YOU CAN'T STOP TALKING ON CELLPHONES WHILE DRIVING 'CAUSE THEN YOU CAN'T TALK ON CELLPHONES WHILE WALKING AND CHEWING GUM AT THE SAME TIME. Come on. Also, I try to drive properly in GTA too, but it's really hard. Is this how driving is in New York? EDIT: I really don't see why it's wrong to do something until it's banned. I mean, the ban isn't targeting people who are good drunks. It would be targeting people who have something weird with their body that makes them more violent. If I know that I don't act violent when I drink, then there's nothing wrong with me drinking. The government obviously can't just test everyone and hand out drinking licenses or something to good drunks so if they ban alcohol, I'll have to stop drinking too. Okay. I'm willing to sacrifice myself for that. Until they do that, though, I know that there's nothing wrong with me drinking. Last edited by Sashi; 07-28-2012 at 09:17 PM. |

I used to watch Criminal Minds, which deals with sexual violence often involving children. It was amazing how quickly I started having nightmares and picturing my children in those situations.
We are pretty sensitive to what our kids watch...this was discussed to death on a previous show's board. The main point we saw about direct effects of a violent movie was with our under 2 year old. The first thing with violence he ever watched was Kung Fu Panda. The first thing he did when the movie was done, was hit his sister. My husband is a teacher, and he has a kindergartener that watches movies like Pirates of the Carribbean. He is a bully and humps girls and uses rude language. Sorry, I don't think they are seperate issues...this kid maybe is inclined to these behaviors, but seeing these behaviors on movies definitely influenced him. Kids reflect what they see. |
