What I absolutely hate when I see a movie is when grown ass adults bring their moms to the movies because they can't find anyone else in life. If its a romantic movie you know he's gonna try and get to second base with her. Ewww. |

Thank you Chemda. Your take on romantic comedies is exactly why I don't watch them. I too hate how they portray smart professional woman as emotionally incomplete shells because some asshole doesn't want to marry them. I will never understand why so many women spend their hard earned money to see these movies that make women look stupid, needy and pathetic only to later pine over the fact that their boyfriend never walked out on an important meeting at work and risked getting arrested by airport security just to make sure he told her he loved her before her flight left. And frankly, I felt smarter after seeing The Avengers than I did after My Best Friends Wedding.

BEST NEW GUESTS ALERT!!!
Between Keith and Chemda on their show and them on KATG these guys have totally won my heart. Very funny and very cool dudes. Now if they could just move to NYC and do a regular movies segment on KATG that would make me very happy, so if everybody could just get on that, that'd be swell. In other feedback, when Chemda opens for Keith's standup next year she should just do her rant on dumb romcoms from this episode. That had me laughing my ass off. And I mean aaaaaaaaaaall the way off, not just half off like those other not-as-awesome fans with their laughed-half-off asses. |

There are great rom-coms out there but you have to seek them out. I'd start with any rom-com in the last 50 years that was nominated for an emmy. The further back in time you go the less you'll see the sickening cliches and repetitive tropes that gives rom-coms a bad name. Best Romantic Comedies - The Moviefone Blog *It Happened One Night (1934) is the widely regarded as the first rom-com **I'd also love to add Amelie to that list, one of my favorite movies |
