I really enjoyed the Evil Dead remake. It was such a fun and crazy movie. I don't know what the TV spots for the movie were like, but if you saw any of the internet trailers you know pretty much exactly what kind of movie it was going to be.
Technically this was Evil Dead 4, and I guess the plan is to make a direct sequel to this, while Sam Raimi and Bruce Cambell are planning Army of Darkness 2, and then a final sequel tying the two universes together. The website I write for did a great discussion on it, (where they also talk about nostalgia and how it kind of taints how people view newer movies) and if anyone is interested they can check it out here: Episode 246 - "Evil Dead | Bloody Good Horror Podcast I thought it was funny to hear Keith nitpick a movie that was obviously never meant to be very serious to begin with. However I think the issue with the school teacher reading from the book is an interesting one. Is it realistic for a person to read from a book that is written with instructions to summon demons? The character in the movie is a teacher and probably I would guess, an intellectual who doesn't believe in any sort of religion (so why would he care that there are scribbles saying not to read it?) I guess my reaction is: would an atheist, even Keith, be completely comfortable reading from a book that contains instructions to summon demons (These types of books actually exist The Lesser Key of Solomon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). If an atheist was afraid to read from that type a book, I would wonder if they were actually atheist. Anyways, just my thoughts, enjoyed the show!
