Good to hear from Victor, and Carmen when they let her talk.

I suppose Dawn will go all the way with the sex change, but it would be funny if he came back to the office after a month saying "it's too hard".

I don't get excited over super hero movies but I really want to see Star Trek Into Darkness. The movie After Earth looks like just another way for Will Smith and his son to make a buck.

How you all, but Chemda particularly, are describing "spiritual healing" at the start of the episode, is what the placebo effect is. People respond positively to good attention and it makes them feel better for a while.

It's the same reason things like acupuncture appear to work even though there is no scientific evidence to back it up. You fawn over someone for a while while they relax and they will feel good. Doesn't mean you healed anybody. It gets dangerous when its used for anything other then basic massage. Didn't the guest yesterday say stuff about healing serious illnesses? Scary.

Hey Keith and/or Chemba, would it be possible for you guys to edit a tag into the show when Keith's talking spoilers? Just a heads up, like fast forward 10 minutes to avoid movie discussion, or whatever.

I'm like a dog that's been beaten too many times. Every time Keith mentions a movie I haven't seen I just turn the show off reflexively and pee myself. If it's too much hassle to mess with the recording, never mind. I just would have liked to hear the last 30 minutes of a show with Victor, though it was probably only recycled material anyway.

But thankfully he didn't mention spiritual healing as a replacement for traditional medicine, nor do I think that is his intent as a self-described healer.

Perception and positive thinking can have a dramatic impact on a person's health and recovery. If whatever voodoo you believe makes you feel like you've got a better chance in a fight, go for it, though only as a supplement to actual medicine, of course.

No, he didn't.

Also, it is healing but in a different sense of the word. "People respond positively to good attention and it makes them feel better for a while." is not a placebo effect. That is a measured effect that can have a profound influence on someone's life and the lives of others through that person. Something as miniscule as a smile can have a lasting effect on someone's entire day. That's a form of healing.

Lastly, if you don't mind me taking this too far, being grumpy and treating people like shit every day is a serious illness that plagues our modern existence. Gotta spread them positive vibes, y'all.
