They should have their liquor license removed at the very least.

Scumhook 08-02-2013 06:23 AM

A fantastic show.

I'm glad that fucking cunt Stuckey didn't show up. I hope he gets hit by a bus and raped by a pack of feral cats.

Mr Murray vibed with the K&C beat. You can tell when a guest is on the same wavelength as the show, and he was. Laughs, tunes and entertainment. What more do you fucking want???

Scumhook 08-02-2013 06:37 AM

I must address a grevious blasphemy.

cHemmo, sweet cHemmo; you boofy headed aural angel, you've fucking committed a cardinal sin.

How could you possibly say that AC/DC found a lead singer that sounded the FUCKING SAME as Bon Scott??????

You're a muso - tell me if these two singers sound the same?

The original God:

The false imposter:

No fucking contest.

Bon had that Keith Richards dangerous rocker, sneer thing, going on. Certified badass.

Nice! At first I was all 'Well now why is Danny just standing in the back...AWWwwww.'

Brilliant. Best vine thus far. Absurd hilarity. Jon Murray is clearly carrying that duo or at the very least; better at showing up for KatG shows.

Also, the kazoo is underrated.

Keith 08-02-2013 07:17 PM

I wish I had more time to rehear shows in general, but this one I did. God damn that was fun!

PS. Chemda's right on this (and that's why it's offensive), the 2 ACDC singers are clones.

RIP and full respect.

Fast Food and Low Wage Workers

Ok Keith Malley, you frustrate me. You're always going on about how society sucks but no one ever does anything about it and nothing will ever change. It seems like you're talking more about it lately with the Snowden and Trayvon Martin things happening. And yet when people do act and try to change things you belittle their efforts and make fun of them for giving a shit. So, rather than ignoring your ignorance as usual, here is what is happening with the fast food and low wage workers across the country. I could send this in an email, but I may as well update and inform the forums as well. (Sorry in advance for the formatting.)

You said working fast food jobs are for young people and older people should find better jobs. The problem is that since the recession has recovered, most of the new jobs have been low wage fast food/retail jobs... The fact is that there are simply not enough well paying jobs for the amount of people we have in the country... Just because some people lack the education and/or skills that you have... doesn't mean they should live in poverty.

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that seven out of 10 growth occupations over the next decade will be low-wage fields. And these jobs are not being done by teenagers. Across the country, the median age of fast-food workers is over 28, and women -- who make up two-thirds of the industry -- are over 32, according to the BLS." ( McJobs Should Pay, Too: Inside Fast-Food Workers' Historic Protest For Living Wages - Sarah Jaffe - The Atlantic )

You said... people working fast food don't deserve even $7 or $8/ hour... that they're lucky to make that.

People are asking for a living wage. As you can see... the people working these low wage jobs are NOT primarily teenagers and college students, they are people who are trying to raise a family in this country.
I'm going to use walmart as an example now (fast food and walmart workers are in basically the same boat)

"Walmart jobs are poverty-level jobs.
Walmart’s average sale Associate makes $8.81 per hour, according to IBISWorld, an independent market research group. This translates to annual pay of $15,576, based upon Walmart’s full-time status of 34 hours per week1. This is significantly below the 2010 Federal Poverty Level of $22,050 for a family of four." ( Fact Sheet ? Wages » Making Change at Walmart )

Because these low wage jobs pay their employees such small wages, many of these employees are forced to get public assistance. "...Walmart employees cost taxpayers more than $1 billion nationwide." And thats JUST Walmart... imagine how many low paying companies are costing taxpayers because of this. ( http://makingchangeatwalmart.org/fil...03/workers.pdf )

A living wage is beneficial for the employees, as well as the taxpayers who are picking up the slack. More info: Minimum Wage Question and Answer | Raise The Minimum Wage

A note on the activism: "So, this is by far the largest strike by fast-food workers in the history of the United States. It comes less than a year after the first big strike by fast-food workers anywhere in the United States. And it demonstrates a real escalation in this campaign. It’s a dramatic showdown between an embattled labor movement and an industry that increasingly not only is prevalent in the United States economy, but really represents where jobs are going in the United States economy. Organizers estimate that somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 workers, at least, have gone on strike this week. This is a mammoth industry, and so it’s not one that’s going to concede quickly. And so, we’re going to see this continue to escalate." ( "We Are Slowly Dying": Fast-Food Workers Launch Strike for Living Wage and Right to Unionize | Democracy Now! )

And I live in San Jose, California and just graduated from San Jose State University. A group of students started a campaign, gathered community support and put a measure on the 2012 ballot for the city of San Jose (the 10th largest city in the US) to raise the minimum wage from $8 to $10/hour. The measure passed by about 75% and the city is doing just fine. So... “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” --Margaret Mead

Anyway... stop hating on low wage workers and do some fucking research. <3

J. Canines 08-02-2013 09:40 PM

Gosh. California. It's just like...it's just like they're so much more progressive there, ya know?

Keith 08-02-2013 11:42 PM

I of course won't read that.

I live in New York City. I have been to so many fast food establishments as an adult in New York City. All I can base my real opinion on is the fast food workers in New York City.

They can all eat a dick.

(Which I bet, ironically, is what they're serving me. But that's neither here nor there.)

BlackhatGuy 08-02-2013 11:45 PM

I tried to summarize your wall of text into a smaller wall of text.

70% of the new jobs which are created in this country are low-wage shit jobs. The majority of fast food workers are over the age of 28. These are no longer jobs worked by just high schoolers.

Based on only their $8/hour salary ($15.5k/year) from their jobs with Walmart, employees working there are actually under the federal poverty line ($22k/year). This means that most of these employees are forced onto welfare/food stamps. Which increases taxes/federal spending to the tune of $1billion nationwide. And that is JUST FROM WALMART.... pretty crazy.

If we did raise the minimum wage to something more on par with all the other first world countries then these employees would not be soaking up so much of our tax dollars. Putting more money in these employees pockets would also mean that they would be spending more money which would help to stimulate the local economies in those areas!!!!!! WOoooooh!111!111!1!!!

Anyway I've lost track of what we're even arguing about...

You had a good point about how bands are largely the sound of their lead singers.

The one thing with Geoff Tate is that he can't hit the high notes that he could 20 years ago (whether that be from age or a lifetime of smoking), but the thing is that the Tate-less Ryche hired a new lead singer who sounds just like Tate did 20 years ago. It was one of those things that you never would have noticed how bad Tate's voice had become except for the fact that he decided to re-record classic Queensryche songs on his album "Frequency Unknown." You play these substandard shadows of what the songs used to be and you can see how bad his voice has gotten. (Note: He only re-recorded those songs to attempt to give credence to him being the "real" Queensryche.) But then you compare that album to the other album, and you see just how much of a difference there is between the two.

Yeah, the two Queensryches are confusing, but what's cool is that the marketplace can determine who is the real winner of the title.

Keith 08-03-2013 12:13 AM

Neither.

Neither is the winner.

I am digging the "like" button. I feel like I am making a difference here by choosing sides with the like button but not actually having to participate with a thoughtful response.

Blackhatguy summed it up nicely.

here's some british wittiness about the minimum wage

The link I posted? There was nothing to agree or disagree with. In british witty voice it was just pointing out that when people say along the lines of, "I started working in the 70s for only $2 per hour, or in the 80s for only $3 per hour, and I was happy to get even that!" they were actually earning more than minimum wage workers make right now.

There indeed.

I forgot how damn fast and funny Murray is off the cuff. A+ and now I'm going to be pissed off if he isn't on more often. Get him on Myka's show. Get him on Danny's. Get him his own damn VIP show.

I want more Jon Murray is what I'm saying.

This ^^^^^^^^

massive big time

Junkenstein 08-04-2013 08:21 AM

Both versions of Queensryche suck, and anyone who listens to either should be revoked the ability to appreciate mmusic. period. end of argument.

m0o0op 08-04-2013 10:00 AM

Quick thing that was brushed over a little bit, but I thought was fun and super relevant to me is that Jon Murray plays the guitar the exact same way that I do!
I've played a right handed guitar lefted handed since I started and will never change. Good to find another weirdo like me out there :)

You're going about this the wrong way. You need to link Keith to a documentary he can watch, not text that needs reading.

Murray was really funny. That was a fun show :)

Fuck you.

You may be a supertaster, with otherworldly buds on your tongue, but if you reckon Bon Scott and this new cunt are clones then you're fucking deaf as a post.

Given that hugsy is now hugsette, you may also want to get your eyes checked.

Keith 08-10-2013 06:22 AM

It just hit me: Bon Scott is Australian, and it's really all you got.

I get it.

You're right. He's the best. It's not even close.

Nice try chubby - you're from PA.

At least we have Bon. You've got Amish cunts with horses, and a Billy Joel song about a dead town.

Don't divert the discussion from your dead ears, mate. Bon had one of the most awesome voices evar. Listen to him. Embrace the magic.

WittyReference 08-12-2013 11:46 PM

The whole fast food pay thing is still doing my head in. If anyone thinks that a full time job should be able to pay you an amount that keeps you under the poverty line then you fail the basic humanity test and that's 1 strike and you're dead.

They cost you tax money in the welfare they are paid. Wouldn't you rather Mcdonalds, who can easily afford it, to pay the difference instead? In 2008 they're CEO was paid $1.8 million in salary and another $26 million in bonuses etc.

I think an easy way to raise low income is make it have to be a percentage of the highest paid worker at the same company. I'll be very generous and make it only 1%, so if the CEO makes $1 million then minimum wage is 10k. So if he still wants his $28 million a year he'll have to start paying them $280 000.

You would think anyone making their living from people subscribing to their podcast would be (at least selfishly) sympathetic as you rely on people having disposable income to spend on you. It's in your own interest to see everyone paid a decent wage. When Henry Ford started producing cars, not many people could afford them so he raised his own workers salaries. Then they all bought cars from him and gave him all that money back.

Scumhook 08-12-2013 11:54 PM

McDonalds is already fucking expensive (for what you get).

I don't want to pay $25 for a fucking cheeseburger because they have to pay some fucking 12 yo girl or 25 yo autistic twice as fucking much.

The market will sort itself out. If maccas isn't paying enough, then they won't be able to find workers.

The CEO is getting paid what he's getting paid because he's running a massive organisation, not flipping burgers and serving cold food to suckers at the drive thru.
