Really loved Joyelle as a guest! Really funny lady with great stories.

As far as bad neighborhoods go, any neighborhood can be "bad." My gated apartment complex with security has had just as many break-ins this year as the rest of the town. Nothing's guaranteed safe, whether you pay no money or a couple grand.

When I heard the news this morning about Manning wanting to identify as a transgendered woman from now on, I wondered if maybe this was a calculated move so that she (he) can now be in a women's prison. Maybe she knows someone and something terrible is definitely waiting for him in the jail he should be going to. Maybe she wants Orange is the New Black and not Oz.

Well, that's definitely true. I just heard the following comment from a cubemate: "What's with this spy who all of a sudden says he's a woman? What's wrong with him?"

However, Manning isn't responsible for the rampant transphobia in our culture. You can thank the media for shifting the story towards, "He's a chick now!"

Exhaust all avenues of appeal first and then come out.

Manning always wanted to be a woman. He'd sometimes dress up as a woman when he was in the military as well. There's nothing new about this. Without it, he may not have sent the information (to a gay man) in the first place.

I know you're joking, but calling someone he/she is part of the problem. If someone has explicitly said what gender they identify as, then that is how you refer to them. So, references to Manning are simply "she" and "her." Not he/she, and definitely not "it" (which you didn't do, but other people do).

From the article I read he will specifically not have access to any hormones and other support because he will be in military prison and they don't supply that

She - Chelsea Manning has damaged her prospects of obtaining a presidential pardon by publicly coming out and identifying herself self as a woman. That is why I face palmed.

Bradley Manning's efforts as a whistle blower have been totally rendered irrelevant because of the shit show this is now going to become.
