I'm psyched that the cupcake story has prompted such an important conversation. I think that by talking about how I really feel re:the cupcakes/water situation I've finally become the ass-kicking, bad boy, rockstar comedian I've always wanted to be.
And I'm psyched to be compared, but J-Fod would be FURIOUS. |

I feel like the water thing must be an NYC situation. Keith and Chemda seemed so sure that Alex was wrong, but literally everywhere else in the country you could get a cup of water without grief. I assume that the massive bum plague and high rents have ruined that for NYCers.

It's New York City.
You want a drink of water. You stop at a cupcake shop (known of course for their water), demanding water because you were out jogging. You probably want to make your point even more than you want the water. You're insane. |

On further consideration, I let my surprise at the denial of water overrule my sense of propriety. Most places would freely give a dixie-cup to anyone who asked, but anyone who asks must accept "no" as an answer.
Alex cannot let others perceived bad behavior influence his own. Even if he was teaching a lesson, he must admit to being outrageous. Also, fuck that cabbie. Is there some reason that Chemda doesn't carry mace? It would be problematic to use inside the cab, but the threat alone would have helped. |

He was being an ass, and could have picked a better place to ask, but it's water, basic human decency says that if you are able, give someone a drink of water. No one is scamming you, it's water, out of the tap. He's not pulling a fast one or getting rich, he's not going home at the end of the day thinking "I could have stayed home like a sucker and drunk my own water, instead I got 4 litres FREE MOFO'S".
In the UK it's a law, if you are a food establishment, that is certified to serve food, and someone comes in and asks for tap water, you have to give them some. Maybe he picked it up here? I think I've done it once in my life, 30 mile bike ride, water bottle is empty, feeling really dehydrated I am going past a costa coffee, I have no money with me as I was out on a bike ride, not only does the barista not try and sell me shitty bottled water, she adds ice to my bottle too. Guess where I'll go for coffee next given a choice between costa and starbucks? This was a funny show, I get the feeling Keith and Chemda wont be in a rush to invite him back though. |
