the county i live in was named "in honor" of the colonel who ran the cherokee out of the area and onto the trail of tears. the high school mascot are 'the indians.' next county over? White; name, also demographic. mascot: warrior (indian face).

it's like if /they/ came into your house, raped your wife, infected your children with disease, tortured and mutilated your body, set every house in your neighborhood on fire, then re-opened a daycare on the scorched earth, put your smiling face on it, and called it "The Johnstons."

it's weird. just like wetbacks and wops would be weird. to not think so is to possess a poorer taste.

That shit is embarrassing, but let's be real, the NFL is a way bigger deal.



Some polls show 80%+ of Native Americans take no offense to the name. I say if 20% do, we could change the name in lieu of giving them back the country.

And the majority of people don't mind gay people not having the same rights as straight people. Who cares? Not me.

George Preston Marshall the original of Redskins was a known racist, and his team was the last to have a black player. He's obviously not the best with race relations. It's pretty reasonable to assume that he wasn't using the name as a term of endearment. Ignorance about race doesn't usually end with one race.

We can have redskins because we didn't slaughter and rape the Indians, but we can't have "abo" or "Boong" candies because we brought democracy to these fair shores.

Maybe they should rename them "The Washington Abos".
